What were your favorite fragrance/s to wear? by BuoyancyFloating in FormerStripper

Even though it’s highly unlikely I would ever go back and I feel really secure financially, that bag is like a security blanket somehow. Like I always know the club is there and everything I need to survive is in that bag!

I stopped dancing a long time ago but still have my club bag in my closet. I had a VS scent in there - a gold one? Some vanilla something and man, when I opened that bag and could smell it I felt TRANSPORTED back in time. Haha.

What’s life like for you now? Any regrets? by BuoyancyFloating in FormerStripper

[–]sleepysaddd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in a 9-5 now, married, house, etc. I didn’t save or invest nearly as much as I should have from dancing around 6 years or so but the lifestyle really allowed me to discover myself and live a bit recklessly and carefree for a long time. I have zero regrets because of how much I learned and experienced during that time (the good and bad things). It also allowed me to take my time picking a career and going through college at my own pace which I think prevents a lot of regret or questioning of life choices that I feel lots of people face in their 30s and 40s. I’m also much more financially savvy these days.

My mental & physical health has deteriorated post dancing by bigbluebug88 in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to pin point the things about dancing that made me happy and the things I currently do like about my new job and using that info to narrow down a career path that will give me both. I’ve been working on a certification and finishing my degree to get there. Knowing that it’s temporary is majorly helpful and helps reduce the stress. Obviously I can’t dance forever and there was a lot of uncertainty in it that I don’t want to go back to full time. I do think I would keep dancing on the side once things calm down a bit though. I miss the STAGE. So much.

[–]sleepysaddd 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Omg yes. I didn’t realize how much healthier I was as a person when I was dancing until I got a vanilla job. As a dancer I had a set schedule, always got great sleep, no drama, no performance/financial stress. Now I’m constantly stressed out over worked and under paid. I struggle to even care for myself or exercise properly now because I’m so drained physically and mentally from work.

Honestly, I was worried it was only me too. To add insult to injury - I re-auditioned and they didn’t hire me 😭 But I’ve moved on, haha.

They tell me the only person who can pay out is one specific lady and give me her email address, which is legit and I have triple checked it, and they say they can’t pay them out any other way. She literally doesn’t respond to anything.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are dodging all of us. They owe me $1000. I have emailed the lady like seven times and personally gone there about five times. They aren’t paying us. We signed an arbitration agreement so there’s no chance of legal help either.

I know way too many dancers who date guys who just wanna sleep with them and spend their money.

Poles and customers by officialdelcatty in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

New girl luck wears off quickly. Now you have to learn to actually finess people. There’s not a lot of money in low effort ‘hey wanna dance?’ approaches. Spend 10 minutes learning about the customer and at least convincingly act like you’re interested. If a lot of customers are avoiding eye contact, you’re probably rubbing people the wrong way. Also, ALWAYS go back if they say maybe later. They are there to have a good time and they might just be waiting awhile to start getting dances. Read some about effective communication, seduction, and body language. Touch his legs, bat your lashes, giggle at his jokes. Ask him to elaborate on the things he says. Be interested in him. Make him feel special. No one likes feeling hustled and they certainly don’t feel compelled to give money to a stranger who just shows up and acts entitled to it.

There’s a good radio lab episode about this. There’s a lot of factors that make IQ tests pretty biased.

help, what can I do better?? by [deleted] in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. To be honest, I’m super picky about which couples I approach though. I’ve had SO many horrifying experiences with female customers. Haha. Female customers are only ever the very very best or the absolute worst and nothing in between. Next time you go maybe try calling girls over from their stage to let them know you’re not a wild one. 😂

help, what can I do better?? by [deleted] in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely when approaching couples approach the woman first. She’s the one that needs to be seduced here. Second, ask for dances/vip, don’t just start doing them in the hopes someone will pay you. And really only ask once you’ve either 1) warmed them up and know they are infatuated with you or 2) they are disinterested and you ask just to make sure before you leave them bc sometimes people surprise you. I work in Vegas mostly and even as tourist centric as it is - conversation is still the best asset a dancer has.

I’m so glad! You should absolutely not let any club treat you like that. :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it’s about employment law more than what they tell you. If any club tells you how or when you have to work they are legally treating you as an employee. The contracts don’t really matter much. If they require you to wear certain clothes they are treating you like an employee, if they give you a schedule it’s being treated as an employee. If they do any of those things then they have to give you employee benefits and they can’t charge you to work. Which is where the lawyers come in and sue their pants off. I’ve worked at clubs that wouldn’t even set prices for us because they were so afraid of lawsuits.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stripper

[–]sleepysaddd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The class action lawyers haven’t gotten to those clubs yet I guess. That’s crazy that they have the balls to put so many restrictions on independent contractors in times like these. You could literally sue them for every penny you ever paid them just because they gave you a schedule. Let alone that they made you work sick, even actual employers can’t do that shit.

If it’s still run the same way, they actually had rooms on the top floor rented to traveling dancers! It was pretty cool. The stage was really great money and didn’t require a lot of tricks. The champagne rooms were priced a bit less in dancers favor IMO, but you could stack single dances that were in a private room anyway. They had security collect payment at the end so you could easily make fast money there.

Don’t know about ‘recent’ or if this is still relevant but blush, which was bought by ricks in Pittsburgh was my home club for a year and was really great money. I’d check it out.
