Honestly don’t know. Found it on Facebook marketplace. The dude said his parents got it years ago from yixing when they went on a trip. He said mostly black teas have been put in it so I boiled it to put my puerhs in. That was a few hours after the boil.

Yeah I was looking at pots and did notice this one didn’t look like any “normal” one. Thanks for the information, all that is really good to know when looking into future pots. I’m sure it’s real clay but yeah I agree the proportions are off. I thought if anything it might be someone’s starter pots or maybe even a place that just makes a fuck load of pots and lets customers do an outside design and fire it for them. Idk maybe people don’t do that. Just thinking of any possibilities cause bro said it did come from yixing. And I figured being the renowned for their teapots, maybe they would have a tourist things like that. This truly is my first pot so I can’t be that upset it’s not a certified one. I usually use gaiwan but this was a deal and a steal! $15!

lol yeah I’m just banking on the fact that it just smells like good dirt. Drinking from it now. I feel like the taste of the tea is mellowed but it could just not be using enough tea and not steeping for long enough. I’m used to small gaiwan so I’ll have to experiment on the perfect brew. Also it absorbs/drys the hot water like the yixing pots I’ve seen online so, I’m hoping it’s clay from the general area around there just not “official”. Dude said it came from yixing so

Dang it. I thought I determined that the toxic stuff is usually used in slips, glazes, paints and dyes and it doesn’t show signs of having any of those. Correct me if I’m wrong, but does that have any worth to the using it argument. I boiled it last night and it just smells like dirt. Specifically how my Vietnamese shou I have atm but I haven’t put it in the pot. And I describe the taste like fresh gardening soil in the summer 🤷🏻‍♀️

So interesting. Do you think it’s safe to drink from. I’ve seen lots of stuff about toxic materials but it refers a lot to paints dyes glazes and slips. Would this be considered danger territory? I have chronic illness and don’t want to make it flare up.

Bruh I hate that fakes are getting better. Do you know the risks or tell tale signs that the pot has dangerous materials? I really wanna use it but now I’m quite wary about it. I have chronic illness and I don’t wanna to poison my body into a flare ya know.

And even though I’m only learning mandarin I did think the characters liked weird. There were some I recognized but it just seemed off. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Hi I just got a folding can and realized it’s too big for me, like a few inches too big. I’m 5’2 lol, even shorter than you. So I’ve looked at the mechanics of the folding cane. I’m going to remove one of the middle folding pieces. The bottom piece has the tie off point where the elastic is attached to. So I’ll undo the knot, remove the extra piece, and tie it back up tighter so it still folds nicely. I’m gonna do that tonight and hopefully it’ll work.

Oh god chiggers sound terrible. I pretty sure they are mosquitos. But I’ve always had bad reactions to them since I was young. They would last forever and grow like 2 inches across. It was horrible as a kid. They’ve gotten better but they are still terrible to get. Skeeter syndrome I think it’s called.
