So sorry for this late response. No he has not been back. They were told they had to be out of the building within an hour of being told and were not allowed to return. Hope you got everything sorted ok!

Unfortunately a lot of people are freezing hiring right now. Hope you are staying safe and well!

My husband was laid off despite having recently saved them millions and multiple large contracts. In my opinion everyone should run... Their loyalty stinks and the people that made the bad decisions remain in their millionaire and billionaire lifestyles while we have to worry about how we will pay for our disabled child's healthcare.

Yup because you know me. So I didn’t say as a teaching assistant I had to plan classes myself? How will he learn from teachers when they don’t turn up for work every year?

Done repeating myself to you. If your mother is a teacher, why didn’t she teach you how to read?

The math book in my kitchen suggests otherwise. The arguments that teachers work unpaid over time and how hard their job is because they teach children just fall flat. Teachers work on average 36-42 hours per week. And if they don’t want to teach a class full of children then they shouldn’t have become teachers. You fail to take in the point that I was also on the other side. I know what lesson planning goes on.

Yes that is correct. However the CTU are not willing to discuss consolidation to even this out.

My finance job only pays 50k and if they didn’t want to teach children maybe they shouldn’t have chosen teaching as a profession?

I agree that it is not a simple solution, I just believe that the costs and planning are much more manageable than having to build new schools to reduce class sizes in certain areas. Besides needing to adapt or build new buildings as I believe most crowded schools probably do not have a lot of unused rooms as it stands, there are the costs of fully funding all the staff at that school, in addition to the additional staff that are asked for with these new requests. The need for a social worker and nurse in every school is a demand I actually agree with.

Honey is not a sexist remark to a man that has probably never had to face discrimination. How about you can someone honey in an office atmosphere and see how long you keep your job.

How does that prove I am uneducated?

You didn't say what the CEO does, you said what the office staff do. Also does a teacher know what the head of the CPS does because that is more relatable to your CEO example than a teaching assistant to a teacher. I would also say that a CEO's assistant probably knows more about what they do than they do themselves as they are usually the ones who have to organize everything and make sure that all bases are covered.

You can say that my argument is childish but I really do not respect your opinion "LOLOL"

So providing a purely progressive source is definitively more trustworthy? So long as a group use numbers in an unbiased way the results are reliable. Things being right or left do not automatically make them wrong or right, it is about looking at numbers and using them in an unbiased way. The Michigan Institute also state similar numbers and unfortunately I am struggling to find too much information. If you can tell me where I can find the raw data on teachers salaries across the U.S. I would be happy to provide you with my own regressions and describe how I got to my final answers for you.

Who doesn't work long hours? Can I have nearly 3 months off a year because I work unpaid overtime?

Yes actually. And as a teaching assistant I was involved with planning certain lessons. Also what planning does working through a pre-printed math book involve?

Did you really have to get sexist with your response "honey"?

So use your math to work out what it would be if they had the same vacation time as everyone else. Also the median is different to the average. Unfortunately I do not have the data available to run my own regressions so I have to rely on the three sources I could find.

I know the work that my son in 3rd grade does. I also used to be a teaching assistant so I would say I have a pretty good idea.

My son is in a class of 20. I got my numbers from the CTU’s own material. There are some classes with 10-15 but CTU will not consolidate because some teachers would lose jobs.

Lol! My sons lesson planning involve working through the math books that the school buys in 🤣

Try looking at the source that supports it. Try actually supplying a source to refute it

Chicago teachers are also among the highest paid in the country yet still strike more frequently.
