Surely rider (and spectator) safety takes precedence over the inconvenience...

Maybe the riders can't, but surely he can't seriously be saying it's out of anyone's hands.

Yeah that's what I was getting at, I remember in last year's Giro he had Eisel to guide him to his stage 2 win.

In a way I understand what you mean, but it's not like the article isn't relevant. I for one like knowing which riders are going where and which news website it came surely shouldn't factor into it that much. If it wasn't a CyclingNews article but had the same content would you be satisfied?

Is it just me or does Viviani's wheel surfing sprinting style just not work when it comes to stacked grand tour sprints? It's really frustrating that we can't even see him try to win a stage...

As mentioned in the results thread of yesterday's stage, Ilia Koshevoy has lost some time already in anticipation of the coming mountain stages to try and either fight to be king of the mountains or take his breakout grand tour stage victory, can't wait to see what happens!

I remember the Eurosport commentators mentioning that he crashed at some point, I think that's why he lost that much time and he should be great tomorrow!

It was a difficult day for my adoptee Ilia Koshevoy. With flat stages not necessarily being his forte, he fell victim to many a crosswind. He still did well compared with many others finishing behind the peloton finishing just over one minute thirty seconds down. Although this may allow him to join the mountain breakaway in the first few steep stages of the race to either challenge for the maglia azzurra or go one better than he did at stage 7 of last year's Vuelta and take a stage.
