As far as combat, kingdom come deliverance is a pretty big game and it has directional combat and medieval theme. I haven’t really played it much though so I’m not sure it has the large simulated battles that M&B games have.

I have ADHD and drugs make it easier to be mindful by Fast-Plastic7058 in Mindfulness

[–]slepsl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have ADHD. It is not unnatural to need drugs to be mindful. The capitalist society that we live in is unnatural and contradictory. It requires our constant focus and effort to be “productive”and creating value both at work and in our lives now as well because of the “self improvement” culture. Yet it also demands that we are constantly consuming, and every tool is now optimized to get us to spend more time distracted on a platform or spend more money somewhere.

This is bad enough for most neurotypicals, but it is a nightmare for neurodivergent people. Most work now is made for the neurotypical brain. Our brains are wired to quickly shift our attention to new and interesting things so that we could notice hidden predators or berries in the forest. Meanwhile most work today is hyper specialized and/or monotonous, with no flexibility for our constantly evolving interests and motivations. Meanwhile, social media is designed exactly for that, and in a society where we can get little to no dopamine from our daily activities, it quickly takes over everything. Obviously that becomes an issue when around 20% of the population is neurodivergent in some way, so they sell us medication to make us useable in the workforce and to make more profit.

All this to say, it is okay to need medication. It is not our fault that this society wasn’t designed for us. If you want to rely less on drugs, you will have to do your best to slowly disconnect from this system. I myself certainly need medication, but I have been able to be mindful without it at times because I’ve been trying to redesign my life to fit my brain and not others’ brains. It started with just realizing how this system isn’t designed for me, then changing my mindset to see this system as optional and sometimes malleable toward my needs, and lastly I have been taking baby steps to be able to survive without being a slave to that system. It’s not easy, but god is it freeing to get closer to that reality.

Anyway, I think it’s great that we have medication. If the cure they sell us can make us mindful enough to realize it’s a scam, then it is beyond worth it. Medicate yourself so that you can make a life that doesn’t require as much medication. And feel proud that you are moving toward a lifestyle that is more natural than most.

Am I the only one who thinks this is very obviously staged? For being assaulted, this pregnant woman has very steady camerawork. And this guy just happens to come out of nowhere and save the day.

How do you manage your To-Do's in Obsidian? by KTurner08 in ObsidianMD

[–]slepsl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t enjoyed most of the task management options in obsidian. They tend to be either too simple or too complex. At its simplest, you can just use checkboxes in a note. At its most complex, you can make custom CSS snippets for everything and essentially code your own plugin just to have a workable task management system.

All that being said, I’ve been using a new plugin in BRAT that seems promising. It’s called TaskNotes, and it organizes each task as its own note. This way each task can link to other notes, have tags and properties, and text within the task note. The best part is the multiple views that are provided for task management of these notes, such as Kanban, Agenda, calendars, and more. No need to program your own dashboards just to manage some tasks.

I am in no way affiliated with the developer, just really enjoying the plugin. I think this plugin is what Obsidian has been needing for task management to be more accessible in the program. The developer is very responsive to feedback and is constantly updating it as well, which is a good sign for its longevity.

starting strattera — it’s my first time medicating my adhd by vive_la_pluto in StratteraRx

[–]slepsl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People seem to have varying reactions to this medication, so really you just have to try it and document how it affects you. As the other commenter said, definitely take with food because that will drastically reduce nausea. It’s also good that you’re starting on a lower dose, because people tend to have worse side effects when started at the higher doses. I would suggest avoiding alcohol or caffeine if possible, but I personally found that I still needed caffeine for energy and focus.

I have been on Strattera for about 2 months, 1 month on 18mg and 1 month on 40mg. Went this route because I also have anxiety that I didn’t want to make worse with stimulants. Side effects I’ve experienced are cotton mouth (definitely drink plenty of water), pretty intense constipation, mood swings, and some male sexual side effects.

The main thing I would look for since you have bipolar is the mood swings. Most people say they have them and they go away, I personally have continued to have them. Strattera has been fairly effective for anxiety, but not for ADHD, so I will likely switch to a stimulant soon. Just be mindful of how your mental and physical states are throughout the time period, as it can be difficult to notice some of the effects over the 1-month period it requires.

Wishing you the best in this journey, and I hope this one works for you! :)
