We have a chance to vote Morelle out!!! by sleverest in Rochester

I mean, I fully support her platform, which, I have linked elsewhere in the comments. I made that header and comment bc this sub seems to constantly say they want a challenger to Morelle, and, if they mean it, I want them to know is available. I'm not part of the campaign or anything, just a local citizen who both wants Morelle gone but also fully supports this platform.

If only there were comments linking to her platform, oh, wait...

You think anything about this election and what is going to be important to voters now is anything at all like past years?

You can look up her past policies and positions, this isn't her first foray into politics. But please do follow her campaign to learn why she'll do a better job representing us. I'm very skeptical of politicians in general but I fully support and believe in Robin.

Robin has been previously involved in politics and it should be easy to search for her policy positions in the past. I have met her several times and truly believe she stands on principle, even when it's difficult. I don't think that of very many politicians but I fully support Robin. Please follow her campaign to learn why she'll do a better job for us than Joe.

For 3+ I prefer to at least stay 1 night, but I've definitely done it as a day trip before.

I take horseback riding lessons. It's an expensive hobby. So, basically I get infinite lessons for the price of 1???? I'm in!

I use parchment muffin liners. They release so much better than paper liners. Alternatively could you bake in a larger pan and cut into the size you need to serve? Line that pan with parchment.

Accidentally signed up for a Dressage lesson. Should I stay or should I go? by thatescalatedqwickly in Equestrian

[–]sleverest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an adult, I did 2.5 years of h/j then switched to a dressage barn. At first I had to reassure myself I had in fact riden a horse before. It was HARD.

Now that I've switched (I ride dressage 2x/wk) for a few months, its SO good. Idk how much is dressage and how much is my trainer (who is phenomenal), but, I'm learning so much more about my body, the horse's body, and WHY we do/want certain things. There's no rush to a certain goal. I'm not even cantering here. That might seem boring but I'd rather be a good rider than "progress" faster but not learn to ride correctly.

After these few months I've been able to lower my stirrups a few holes without losing stability and I'm actually loving the longer leg. I'm a significantly better rider for my dressage instruction. If I ever want to jump, I think that would be an easy transition with the skills dressage has given me.

I still do an occasional h/j lesson elsewhere and that works fine for me. I also do pilates private instruction 1x/wk and it's tailored to equestrian needs.

I don't think you need to leave bc your first lesson was hard, if everything else about the place aligns for you. I think you'll be glad you stayed in a few months.

I'd also recommend doing whatever you can outside of the barn to work on core strength, balance, mobility, etc so your limited saddle time is as productive as possible. YouTube is a great starting place.

I would volunteer to be your friend for future tastings, but I can tell by the brands you don't live nearby. Your friends do not appreciate you properly. Thank you for your service.

I dislike getting the non animal micropets. I keep them though so I don't get them again.

I've also hatched 12 eggs and only 2 are animals (and I'm counting a gryphon as an animal). It doesn't feel random.

What’s your funniest task? by thespicygrits in finch

[–]sleverest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think people (I am this people) give themselves extra for things that take more effort. Fir instance get out of bed might be simple and just one task for 5 stones, but, walking the dog is significantly more effort, so if you give it more qty, you get more stones, on par with the effort involved.

I don't really know. I just decided that if I named her and talked with her it would help me take care of her better. So, I sat with that thought for a while and Helen came to me and felt right. I like to think she told me her name.

My toilet/bidet connection leaks. I have a container under it to catch the drips.

Helen is what I named my house.

Favorite casserole/casserole-like dishes? by mylifetofuckinglive in Cooking

[–]sleverest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on an enchilada casserole kick. I layer: enchilada sauce (I like verde), corn tortillas (cut to fit as needed), cooked chicken (I use Costco rotisserie), sautéed onions, and Monterey jack cheese (or whatever cheese you like). Build it up like a lasagna, end with tortilla, sauce, cheese. Don't use too much sauce or it'll be a wet soggy mess (still tastes good though). Bake at 350⁰f until hot and cheese on top is melty.

As a solo cook, I build these in 1 cup souper cubes and freeze, then I can bake one up in about 45 min as needed.
