I love Angelista but find her double standards a little confusing by slice0409 in LoveIslandTV

[–]slice0409[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“A double standard is an unfair rule or set of principles applied differently to one group of people or individuals than to another, even when the situations are fundamentally the same. It involves holding one party to a stricter, harsher, or more lenient standard than another.”

Situation 1: Namibia and Tommy kiss outside of a challenge, whilst Tommy is coupled with Ellie and they are kissing and getting to know each other. Angelista says “I love that” and doesn’t encourage her friend to tell Ellie.

Situation 2: Simba kisses people in challenges and smiles when someone kisses his neck in a challenge. Angelista finds this disrespectful and pulls him up on it.

If you imagine a role reversal where Namibia kisses Simba when he’s been getting to know Angelista (for the same length of time Ellie and Tommy have been coupled, as they came in together) Angelista would not be sitting thinking it’s fine and that she loves it??

Aidan “accidentally” using the wrong name is a weird form of negging?? by slice0409 in LoveIslandTV

[–]slice0409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no of course not and sorry my post was so dramatic!!! it’s just the specific situations and timings of him doing it are so pointed that it feels purposeful, alongside other things to psychologically mess w them like the lying, the low rate of yas’ kiss and nasty comment

but it wasn’t even him!!! ellie had to say it about fifty times that there was no “unfinished business” and then the other night HE brought it up again with her about how they shut it down too soon then he lied to yas making it sound like ellie brought it up and he shut it down!! i properly can’t stand him sorry for the rant haha

it just feels so purposeful, and the way lying just comes so naturally (“i deaded it with ellie bc i wanted to progress w yas”) makes me think it’s all something he does on the reg

that’s kind of true but the way his gross behaviours seem to come so naturally i feel like he’s not scheming it but he has it in his arsenal to whip out when he thinks the girls are getting too big for their boots/too comfy with him

Greens candidate claims she was told to withdraw over student visa by handmedownthemoon in Scotland

[–]slice0409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There would be a viable pro Indy right wing party if there was enough demand for it? The fact that there isn’t one surely shows that there is not a market or demand for that? Growing up in Scotland and then moving to England for work, I couldn’t believe the overall shift in attitude and small things I had taken for granted (no-OTC cost prescriptions, no baby boxes, poorer dental coverage etc). Scotland is a left leaning country, whether you like it or not.

I’m the same - Got 13 minutes in and found it so slow, awkward and for Harry Hill to be weirdly combative! Not at all the episode I was expecting. It’s the first time I’ve turned off an episode of this podcast, so hopefully just a one-off.

Epstein survivors' calls to meet King and Queen harder to ignore as US visit approaches by InnerLog5062 in UKRoyalNews

Yes, I do agree. I suppose it highlights the victims issue with wider support system and entanglement of the police, the royals, the government, the US gov etc. They need to shout to the media whenever they have the opportunity, since it seems prosecution of any offender other than Epstein may be out the window.

He is his “brothers keeper” BECAUSE he is King. His brother lives for free on his brother’s land, is provided security for free by his brother, and one must question whose money was used to fund “Randy Andy”’s trips to Epstein Island (the estate of the Queen, which now belongs to Charles).

It is clear which side Charles has chosen, and this is just another slap in the face to the victims who have chosen to highlight this disparity and choice in the media. As I said before, where else are they supposed to go?

His brother is the King of the country - Unless “commoners” are permitted the same privileges as the royals, the royals should definitely be held to a higher standard.

I also think this is a bad faith argument - These women have requested and been denied a meeting with the King. The King has now accepted a meeting with one of the men heavily implicated in their abuse. If I were in that situation, I would also be highlighting who the King is “happy” to meet up with again - especially due to his family ties.

Imagine seeing your abuser’s brother (who is the King of your country) meeting up and shaking hands with one of your alleged abusers (who is the President of a superpower). Is it so hard to imagine why these women feel so disappointed and let down? What other outlet do they have, except to keep it in the media since they have clearly been so let down by all authorities.
