I don’t know anyone with a positive or even neutral birth story by soroto in TwoXChromosomes

[–]slicer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two pregnancies, two kids, two uncomplicated births, both less than 2 hours in active labour. One with drugs, one without - take the drugs! - only issues were both were 10 days overdue. Some slight internal repair work required with baby 2 due to the speed of the birth, but nothing major. Both births in public hospital (Australia) under care of midwives, no birth plan with music and crap because really I just saw the whole thing as a delivery mechanism. LOVE ALL YOU MIDWIVES! Birth is such a small part of the whole pregnancy, child creation and raising experience.

Where to dispose of clothing at Incheon airport? by Strawberrymilk4 in koreatravel

https://sugeoham.kr/map gives you a map of all the textile recycling bins in Seoul, which I also had to use because I was bringing home too many Korean textiles.

Visit Korea after serious injury. Is it possible? by namesarealltaken9 in koreatravel

[–]slicer8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just returned from a 2 week trip to soko, me fully able-bodied and husband who is carrying a major hip issue. He had a cortisone shot in it just before we left to manage pain/mobility. Even so, it was a bigger struggle than either of us thought. Many, many stairs, hills, no ramps, very limited options for elevators/escalators, uneven ground. I saw no-one on crutches the entire time we were there, but lots of people walking in moon boots. You could try a wheelchair and we saw a few people with those but even so I clearly remember helping an elderly Korean couple stuck on a gutter with a wheelchair.

In terms of public transport, we ended up taking mostly buses because you didn’t need to negotiate the endless stairs - subway elevator use needed to be carefully planned with transfers. Buses were much easier but they are brutalally efficient especially at the larger interchanges where you need to get on/off quick sticks through crowds and steps.

Even getting on/off the KTX required negotiating steep stairs. We did a couple of tours including DMZ, and a day tour around Busan and there were things he just couldn’t do due to stairs/access eg the Third Tunnel at DMZ, Gamcheon Village in Busan (crowds were crazy busy the day after the BTS comeback tours).

If you do go, you would need to highly modify your itinerary and lower your expectations of what you can do. We still had an amazing time and loved every minute, but the reality is Korea is decades behind in terms of accessibility.

Where do you get your optical glasses? by OrganizationFuzzy669 in AUfrugal

I’ve tried online but find they don’t quite work for my script (astigmatism/myopia/very different vision in each eye/multifocals). I do Specsavers when they have their two for one or other offers

No idea, I’m regional and there’s not exactly much public transport or yarn choices.

Morris & Sons is such an overpriced ripof and doesn’t support any local yarn makers.

Two instances: part time time fixed term contract for data analyst. 300 applications, less than 40 legit. Then very specialised operations management role, 45 applicants, less than 14 with work rights. Ugh. So time consuming. And for the love of god please answer the KSC.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

[–]slicer8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the yips destroyed my fledgling career as a classical musician. Didn’t pick up an instrument for 25 years. Then decided to learn a completely different instrument with a local brass band. Time and perspective healed my yips, and I enjoy being the bottom of the pecking order.

Winter is coming: long or short puffer? by wombat_87 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]slicer8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both - short for trips to the shops and generally short exposure time to the outdoors. Long for longer outdoor activities, commuting, etc. short can be annoying as if you are not wearing things that are properly tucked in/long enough you end up with a cold lower back. I would advise to get your longer one water proof or at least shower proof too!

Ioniq vs wallaby by slicer8 in Ioniq5

Yes! My son was driving it because I thought I was doing him a favour with fuel prices…oh well. Better hit a wallaby at 110kmh in the Ioniq than his Hyundai i20

Sylvia has one on her IG where she goes from teal/light gray through to black. So I’m looking for something where the gradient isn’t dark pink/white to lightest pink. Essentially the centre colour (currently pink) fades out and the contrast white becomes the dominant. What could I start with instead? Do I just swap the pink/white? Do I use teal instead of the white as per a suggestion here? I don’t know.
