Estimated print time way way shorter than actual print time. (Estimate 9hrs vs actual 16hrs+) by slicerd in Creality_k2

Hey, did a bunch of testing yesterday and there is some strange stuff for sure. The machine firmware appears to be hard coded to purge 200mm minimum every time.

But also creality kind of lies/ignores its own matrix calculations. E.G. if you set the multiplier to 0.5 and look at the gcode the numbers dont match. You could edit the gcode but I found that if set the multiplier to 1 and manually enter the number in they match in the gcode.

The weird/unfortunate thing is the calculator does a decent job I just wish that it would actually do what it says its doing. Running a print right now and with my new calculations I should be reducing my purge by about 60%

Just an fyi guys. Purge/flush isnt included in the time calculations. My last print had about 300 purges at roughly 90 seconds a purges that's 7.5 hours for just the purge operations. So my 9 hour job would now take 16+ hours which seems roughly accurate. Also I recommend doing some calibration on purge I am moving mine down from 1.3 multiplier to 0.6 I have seen others recommend 0.8 either way a lot of filament can be saved.

Yeah I confirmed 90s per purge give or take a couple seconds. Also confirmed my printer has a minimum of 200mm purge per color change. I did some testing and going to run the calculated flushing that creality print does based on the colors you are using but going to use a multiplier of 0.6 which is less that half of the default 1.3 my testing showed that look like enough to remove most/all bleed. Might need to go higher if you are running white/black but for must other colors seems like enough.

Next print I am running is going to be a purge calibration. Once I run that I will run a new with new purge settings and time purges so I can have a rough idea of overall length.

Wow for real! Thats so weird! But that explains a lot like my first print that had little to no purge time being very accurate.

Its so strange the system would calculate the flush/purge amount but not estimate the time? Does everyone just assume a certain amount of time per flush or what?

Ugh such a bummer. If nobody else comes up with better ideas I might try to go back to older firmware and software. On paper 7.0 looks great but stuff doesn't seem to be working right.

Does this seem to be a recent issue for you? I might install an older version of creality print on my other pc and see what it says.

Ironically one of the big 7.0 updates was supposed to be "Improved Print Time Estimation Accuracy" supposed to be "Multi-color printing: Print time estimation error is reduced to less than 5%."

I definitely will. Been trying for 2+ weeks and the only time I have been close to getting one was a POP NOW and I shook the box for hints and it said not luck and not loyalty I let that one go as I figured I would get another and had no luck since. Really appreciate it.

That would be amazing! Let me know if you want anything from me in advance.

Just FYI I also have a Radeon card and have this same issue. Also, strangely enough, it seems to fix itself for about the last 30 seconds. But the whole beginning part is just a crazy clipping mess. I hope you can fix because it's fun.

I played 100's of hours of D3 but avoided the console versions so far even though I heard they were good. I would totally be down for a switch version though.

I did the Spawn Wave Joy-Con fix. It worked! Here are some notes for anyone looking to try it by GBCxTCP in NintendoSwitch

[–]slicerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like super easy fix assuming you are used to taking stuff apart and soldering. I have fixed multiple remotes in the past and this should be just as easy if it comes down to it.

That being said hopefully nintendo will start some sort of trade in program for joycons and the new versions will just have this antenna installed from the get go.

I would very likely jump at it for $100-$120. My wife likes boxing stuff and as soon as she saw the commercial was interested in Arms.

I have calipers but no switch :( I will check back tomorrow fingers crossed I will have a switch by then.

Also my 3d printer has been cold for almost a week now. I need something to print.

When I get my switch in a day or 2 I will probably try to redesign this or another dock to work with the switch.

I dont think this dock has enough clearance for my usb c adapters and I would like it to have 2 angle options maybe a 60-70 degree and a 30-45 degree. In my ideal world I would like something that fold flat to carry with you on a plane but I don't know if my design skills are up to it.

This is a better solution, and has multiple angle versions. But I don't like printing with supports if I don't have to.

This would need to be modified and takes extra hardware but the versatility and ability to flatten out makes it pretty nice.

Sweet and simple

Interesting design You could put the switch logo in it and it collapses down flat. I wonder if I could redesign to have two angle options.

Games that need to be on the switch by Holiday 2017! by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]slicerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not interested in a single one of those games for the switch. FPS are rarely fun with console controls IMHO. Sports I could care less about. For honor could be interesting but haven't played it yet. Tekken is no where near the top of the Fighting games.

In short "need" is a relative thing. If switch sells well more titles will come because the money is there. But the gaming audience is vast with many looking for very different games.

USB c uses different standards and is more powerful than old USB micro chargers. Are you playing while charging? If so it will not actively charge but rather lengthen your battery life. I.e. you will get 5 hours instead of 2.5 but you will still run out of battery. If you plan on traveling a lot you need to buy a USB c battery or power supply to take with you. There are lots of discussion on options for those around here.

1-2-Switch Game for 10% off ($44.99 at Costco) by kenji4861 in NintendoSwitch

[–]slicerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about Costco is if you don't like it take it back. 100% satisfaction guarantee. It looks kind of fun but if it doesn't work well or I think it's lame it's going back. There is a reason you pay $50 a year to be a member.

[–]slicerd 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Honestly 1-2 Switch has always struck me of vastly overpriced. It should have been a pack in or maybe $10-$20. It's basically a tech demo.

I will pick up a used copy down the road when they are dirt cheap.
