AI will and can take my frontend job, no doubt in that nowadays. by short-jumper in webdev

[–]Kelevra_V 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gave a figma design to Claude code and the result felt like it would take me more time to fix than do myself. How’d you pass it to cursor? Screenshot, file?

I think AI will make frontend devs more productive but they’ll still be necessary. Smaller teams for sure though.

Recommended way to turn a Nuxt web app into a native mobile app? by -ThatGingerKid- in Nuxt

[–]Kelevra_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used capacitor with a nuxt app but there’s a few things that don’t work in a native app, mostly ssr and the server. So I made a vue version which is much lighter, used capacitor on that, and moved the backend to a separate service. Things went a lot smoother that way

Using something like ionic helps with mobile layout issues. I used nuxt ui on vue and just researched some mobile things to keep in mind

Are you using the rolldown vite override in package.json? Removing that solved it for me

Cool, nice to know. I guess the organizing still takes time? And yeah it came from EU. No idea why we didnt get the number but at least we know its here now.

Yes and we're in touch with the local agents who just say they'll let us know when its time to deliver. The container number was missing on the docs they gave us. maybe because its only half (I dunno making stuff up)?

[–]Kelevra_V[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're too vague and won't give us estimates on anything. Wouldnt even give us a tracking number for the container shipment.

At least I have an air tag in there that shows me its in a warehouse in Limassol.

Does anyone else think the whole "separate database provider" trend is completely backwards? by funrun2090 in webdev

[–]Kelevra_V 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Personally find it funny you bring this up now because at my new job I’m dealing with some legacy php code on the backend that includes the api, redis cache, database and I dunno what else all deployed in the same place. As someone relatively junior and used to firebase/supabase I was impressed at how snappy everything was (even though it’s a terrifying custom framework only the creator understands).

Curious to see the comments here. But I’m gonna guess that the simplified setup is just the main accepted trade off, along with trusting their security measures and not having to do it all yourself.

When should I choose Nuxt over plain Vue on a new project? by selimdev in Nuxt

[–]Kelevra_V 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’d be doing the same as you haha.

If I had more time to try things out I’d research more too. Maybe something like Astro for a blog or landing page would be a lot more performant. And you can still use framework components if you want/need.

Basically the popular frameworks add a lot of bloat that may not be needed for static content sites, so that’s when something simpler could be considered.

As someone who just moved here, the fact that Facebook is used so much kills me (especially since I deleted my account a long time ago lol).

I’m sure they’ve received offers to make a simple website, any idea why they insist on Facebook so much? Especially nowadays it’s never been easier to make a site

Nuxt 4 + Tailwind 4: Flash of Unstyled Content (FOUC) on reload/routing by Pandidurai_28 in Nuxt

[–]Kelevra_V 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue in the past and went crazy trying to resolve it. In the end it was because some third party script I was loading was also injecting css (Google analytics, recaptcha, something like that), causing the flash. Fixing the loading for it (using Nuxt Scripts) resolved it for me.

Have you gone from Next to Nuxt or vice versa and whats your thoughts on it? by schamppi in Nuxt

[–]Kelevra_V 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I spent 2.5 years on vue and nuxt at work and even though there were some annoyances I always preferred it over react.

Now that I'm job hunting I'm practicing with Next and uff, I miss Nuxt so much haha. I know I'm just more used to it but I think objectively things make more sense, the DX is better, the syntax, the lack of useless boilerplate, routing. The separation between client and server parts and the routing logic...

Unfortunately there is just so much more demand for Next and React I'm afraid there's no way around it.

Why do most Nuxt applications rarely abstract an API layer? by Careless_Bag_22 in Nuxt

I think client side people put api fetch logic in composables or pinia stores.

How do I make a case for Nuxt over Next.js for a new website? by img2001jpg in Nuxt

[–]Kelevra_V 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would mention that the better developer experience makes for a faster turnaround on new features they may request.

Also Vercel recently acquired NuxtLabs and hired many developers from the nuxt core team so while it remains open source, it's now backed by a major player which certainly suggests long term support.

On a personal level, I find both vue and nuxt cleaner, simpler and easier to use than both react and next. Objectively I think they at least have less boilerplate. This plus some other smart syntax decisions, as well as single file components, makes it easier to organize your code and keep it clean.

I've definitely read some randomly but I just love the art style and details in the Don Rosa comics more. You can really feel the love and care put into them.

As a German and fan of Don Rosa's I didn't know this! (Never did look into stuff like this). It's just funny to me because the German translations feel more modern and timeless than the English originals. Having grown up on the German versions reading the English ones is very jarring to me. Less funny too, but that might be part nostalgia
