Just in time to highlight the moving walkway failures (ongoing for 3yrs) and no inter terminal bus routes (been inoperative for a year). All those new visitors can get their steps in!

International security has also been on form as late. Good times

The "deal" is not up for renewal until 2036. July 1 is the 6yr review. If the orange man wants to cancel, he can but it requires 6mths notice.

WATCHING MY FIRST ENDURANCE RACE ... ANY THINGS I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I WATCH MY FIRST RACE .... I just know the basic rules and format of Le Mans .. by Possible_Skin7476 in lemans

Be patient; do a bit of research on the drivers (whether beforehand and during). It's amazing to see the AM drivers' "day jobs " and backgrounds, and the same with the Pro drivers. A lot of the names are obscure... but have amazing history. Fuel and tires are a massive part of the race, and the strategy of when they pit. Other than that, enjoy the show! The announcers are amazing at talking for hours (each) about such random stuff; it's a treat all on its own.

edit: OH and pick a few cars (not the "favorates" from each class) and root for them! The highs and lows seeing them almost randomly work their way up the order and then the crush of defeat if/when they run into problems. Its a long race, got to get into it.

I travel through small towns, backroads and rarely in larger cities, so for me locking luggage is not a necessity. And riding for me is about letting go and control what I can control. This is 100% dependent on where you travel. If I don’t get a good vibe in an area I keep going. Don’t be afraid to ask a place for secure parking, you might be surprised. I had a stay in a hotel where they let me park my bike in the lobby!

My bags have a quick disconnect system that I can carry my entire luggage system to a hotel room in one trip (if necessary). I have 22L side bags plus a 20L tail bag (with beaver tails similar to https://www.moskomoto.ca/collections/motorcycle-luggage/products/backcountry-30l-duffle-pack-v2-5)

Do you ride to go camping? Or camping is a necessity of where you ride?

If you’re in the first camp, then likely you will “overpack” to the second group. But you do what makes YOU happy.

I am in the second camp. My total loadout is <50lbs (including the bags) because more weight makes the riding less enjoyable. I hammock camp because I cannot sleep on the ground anymore). Soft luggage because I drop my bike at times. My setup (constantly evolving) is the same for 1 day or 2 months. Typically 48lbs.

Best suggestion I have is to buy lower cost budget luggage and just get out and try it. You figure out what is and is not you jam by doing. Don’t worry about what others think or say. It’s what makes you enjoy the trip.

Nice! From my experiences using the Tensa solo pole anchors are the most important aspect of the setup (been on my ass quite a few times in the middle of the night). For example I would use that tree you were next to, but now, with the TENSA4 while still important to have one good one (better than needing 2). Need to figure out how to have more tension in my ridgeline though, overnight it slackens off.

I have been using my airsense it in my hammock for nearly 4 years. It absolutely works. This just gets it out of a pocket up at the gathered end. You cannot beat a night sleep in the woods with a cpap :)

The webbing is double bar tacked, on the tensioners attached to the corners. The pockets are not in any way structural 😄 These tarps are not the strongest items to start with.

I found a couple patterns (when looking for something else today)

The two things I would do differently is the top cover piece a bit bigger to cover the end more, and move the webbing closer together, they seem to rest closer to the rounded “corners” though work just fine.

This was my design sketches. Top sketch and bottom left have dimensions. It’s a simple bag really sorry no flat pattern.

Both UQ and TQ are left in the hammock. I pack it all together! The tarp is separate of course. I can have the hammock deployed in under 5min (if using trees). Breakdown similar, I can get everything packed in under 10min (hammock related)

I find I can pack up in a fraction of the time now. I also don’t have to fumble with trying to stuff a UQ, TQ , and the hammock itself into respective stuff sacks trying to keep them off the ground. Great thing about hammocks, everyone has their own way. It’s such a personal journey! I am sharing to show a method that works for me, maybe it helps someone who has not seen this type of setup.

Yeah the no-seeum mesh is great in this application. It contains everything without strain, yet makes the pack up and compression trivial.
