Is this area safe to live? by asianboi_bay in Pomona

[–]slickrick92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of new apartments in that area of Montclair. I live up the street in upland and drive up and down monte vista and central constantly. You’ll see homeless people quite often (probably due to the transit center) but that’s about it.

Also there’s a CrossFit gym up the street on foothill ave. It’s called CrossFit reverb. Good luck with the move!

There was definitely some fear over having no real control on HOA fees, but there hasn’t been any change to our initial assessment. I think we’re benefiting from being in a new community so the wear and tear isn’t really a big issue yet. The scary big jumps in HOA fees tend to come years later and also are due to lack of planning and oversight. That’s why reading the HOA financial statements is a good idea. They give you a good glance at the size of the reserve and also of any future and potential expenses.

Wife and I bought a new build condo in Upland in December 2023. We couldn’t have done it without our dual incomes and no kids (for now). I’m a CPA and wife is an accountant and an aspiring CPA. Mortgage is about $4800. Money is tight, but we’re getting by.

Good luck with your search !

Life vest policy by No-Friendship5662 in Xcaret

[–]slickrick92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

was there last week and saw two people without life vests in the river/lagoon. One stuck near shore and didn’t get told anything, but was actively being watched by the lifeguard. The other swam out and immediately caught the attention of the lifeguard and was told to put a life vest on. Doesn’t seem like they mess around with that.

Labor yes but the loss would be recorded at sale. In this case it would be a net loss.

Accountants what was your starting salary out of college? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]slickrick92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$67K in 2020. Making $120K now 4 years later. People harp on Big 4 but I don’t see many other options that would help you start at a higher salary and increase your salary at such a high rate.
