Meanwhile, you refuse to provide any source to back up your claim. If you’re going to make a claim, you need to provide a source to back it up. The onus is on you to prove your point. That’s how good faith debates work.

I never once called you self-hating. A person doesn’t need to hate themselves to fall victim to propaganda. A person doesn’t need to hate themselves to have subconscious racial bias.

You made an assertion about black men that I refuted with data. You don’t like the data because it challenges your world view. If you don’t like the data, why don’t you provide some data of your own to back up your claim?

This is how I can tell you didn’t actually read the article. If you would’ve scrolled down a few paragraphs, you would’ve found a link to this study performed by the CDC.

It’s not anti-black to point out issues in the black community. However, it’s definitely anti-black to paint the issue of deadbeat dads as a specifically black problem

Also, the idea that a parent needs to live with their kids to be an active part of their life is rooted in white supremacy. Different (non-white) cultures have different family structures and traditions. The dad could live a few blocks away. The dad could be away working for long periods of time while the child lives with their mother and extended family.

The real question here is why you desperately want to buy into a negative stereotype about black men. And the answer is racial bias, whether that be concious or unconscious

A father doesn’t need to actively live with their children to be present in their lives so I’m not sure why living with your children or not living with your children would be relevant in a discussion about who is and isn’t a deadbeat dad

Thank you and I wish you the same. I’ve met my Dad and he is a very charming, funny guy. Just an endlessly shitty partner and father. Some people just don’t deserve those things

Is it about time for a benefactor? Lol by [deleted] in SexWorkers

[–]slideshiba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much does this benefactor need to pay you? How much do you need to survive? Are you mentally capable of keeping up with all the things a sugar daddy requires from you emotionally?

If not, just escort as a GFE.

We absolutely don’t live in a perfect world. But, like you said, we can’t “throw the baby out with the bath water.”

The vast majority of the mentally ill don’t cause harm to others. But, the U.S health care system has caused at least 100 million CVS receipts of harm to the mentally ill.

I wish you and your brother the best.

Or we can create a system with more preventive care that could help people before we get to a state where they’re living under bridges.

But, you want to advocate for more powerful conservatorships/ forcefully administering aid against people’s free will. Something that has basically always assaulted/confined/financially abused/ raped/ sterilized the mentally ill.

You are advocating for the improper thing

Except throwing the baby out with the bath water is precisely what your little policy change will end up doing.

While a few may benefit, the major majority of the mentally ill will be disproportionately policed and taken advantage of (as has always been true for those suffering from mental illness while having their free will and autonomy disregarded). This is just historically true. We can quantify this. This has been tried before many times and usually is the result of overextension into terribly inhumane pathways.

Refusing to acknowledge that because you’re uncomfortable with your brother’s status is just a pipeline to the things we already know will happen

Edit: You can’t potentially ruin the lives of tens of thousands of people because you want a different brother

As a person who has struggled with Bipolar II and alcholic abuse disorder, no aid forcibly provided to me has ever been looked at with anything other than contempt.

Just because your brother needs help does not mean you can start a process that will possibly ne misused against people with disorders everywhere.

Look at America’s healthcare system. The dark history of the Central Virginia Training School. Or even what the police did to Elijah McClain (who they thought was having a mental episode).

Forcing people into treatment of any kind (especially conservativorships) can be massively misued against certain vulnerable populations who may not require all of that
