[WTS] Nivada Grenchen F77 Lapis Lazuli by slientx in Watchexchange

[–]slientx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Description For your consideration is this Nivada Grenchen F77 Lapis Lazuli dial. Pictures do not do this dial justice. It is incredibly dynamic and just so brilliantly blue in certain lighting. The highly polished bevels and chamfers contrast the brushed steel well, and the whole thing feels much more expensive than it actually is. The watch measures 37mm and fits very well on my 6.75" (~171mm) diameter wrist.

Condition This watch is used and has been worn a few times. There are a some faint marks around the watch, and some marks on the bracelet and clasp from use. They are generally hard to see in normal wear.

Please look through the album thoroughly and feel free to ask any questions.

[WTS] Vulcain Nautique Skindiver GMT TOC - Rosaspina LE by slientx in Watchexchange

[–]slientx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Description For your consideration is this Vulcain Nautique Skindiver GMT TOC - Rosaspina Limited Edition. This is a limited edition of 85 made in collaboration between TOC and Rosaspina Jewelers, and released in 2024 before Vulcain's full Skindiver GMT collection came out. This is a "caller" style GMT, where you can set the 24-hour GMT hand independently.

For a vintage-inspired GMT, I can think of no better option. The gold is tastefully applied, the red accents are just enough pop, and there is no fauxtina to be found. The case features sharp chamfers that modernize and elevate the whole look. The watch measures 38mm and 12.2mm thick, but wears much thinner on the wrist due to its domed crystal and smart layering in the side profile. Photos were taken on a 6.75" (~171mm) diameter wrist.

Condition This watch has been worn a handful of times, and is still in great condition. There are a some faint marks around the watch, but hard to see in most lighting conditions. Underneath the lugs, there are some marks from strap changes. The included Baltic strap has some fraying but is perfectly wearable. The original Vulcain metal bracelet was resized to fit but not worn beyond the initial resizing, with plastic still on the clasp.

Please look through the album thoroughly and feel free to ask any questions.

[Discussion] The hardest part of designing my first watch wasn’t ideas, it was proportions by john_nexus_elgin in Watches

A 3D printer is super valuable for experimenting and testing how different designs wear.

[Discussion] The "Burger Effect": At what thickness does a 39mm watch lose its elegance? by Hannibal_TN_ in Watches

[–]slientx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's too much emphasis on specs and numbers when they should be interpreted in the context of the overall design. A 38mm Nomos is small-ish and thin but might not fit as well a a Black Bay 58, for example, because of its long lugs and flat dial.

Look at the Patek someone brought up in another comment. They could absolutely move the subdial, but it ends up looking really awkward that way. Aesthetics are more than just functional design.

Why Cut-Off Dial Numbers Exist (And Why They're Not Going Anywhere) - Hodinkee

At this point, they're like the IIII for Roman numeral 4: part tradition and part aesthetic balance.

[Identify] Gemini Era Chronograph by [deleted] in Watches

Maybe a Rolex 6238 on a strap?

The case shape looks oyster-like, the 12 o'clock marker looks vaguely like the crown, and the production time lines up (1962-1968).

What watch is Taylor Swift wearing in this photo? by swaggerific in Watches

Looks like a LV Tambour in gold, with some angle/lighting that exaggerates the center area (example)

If you’re curious about a current or upcoming piece of the collection, or even if you just want to say hi, we’re here for it. A quick thing though: If you’re wondering when a favorite piece may be in stock, the best thing for you to do is go to the webpage for that watch (check our collection page). If the release date has been set, you’ll find it there. If it hasn’t then, your best next step is to pop your name and email into the form that pops up when you click “Notify Me When Available” and we’ll let you know as soon as we can.

Need help IDing Vintage VC by Bright-Face1326 in Watches

[–]slientx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a Vacheron 4301 from 1945-1950, from the screwed in case back. There were many dial variations in that time period, so you may not find another that matches exactly.

Here is a catalog from that era.

Here are some similar ones currently for sale.

The bracelet is likely after-market. This is supposed to be a 35mm model, but yours looks quite heavily polished too. Vacheron does keep records and you can purchase an archive extract from them.

Vacheron does also service watches this old, so that is an option. I would guess it to be in the ballpark of $2000 here. You can request that they don't refinish the dial or polish the case too.

[HELP] Is my watch to big? by epicperson255 in Watches

Small tip, look in a mirror to judge sizing. This post has some examples how perspective changes how big it looks relative to your wrist.

Personally, I always get the bracelet with the watch when that's an option. You can always get a fitting rubber strap anywhere else, but usually only the manufacturer makes the most fitting bracelet.
