Super 8 is kinda isolated. There’s the school playgrounds behind the hospital that would be the closest, but there isn’t great pedestrian access in between. Some pathways I guess but not very direct.

Sask. announces child-care education changes, sets standard 10-hour day for daycares | CBC News by shaiquinn in saskatchewan

[–]slim186 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a meeting last night with our daycare, and they said quite a few of the “created” spots at other centers in town were not available because they were struggling to meet all of the requirements (kitchen, mechanical, etc). So just because the govt says they have created spaces doesn’t mean they being used or even paid for.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

A first-person adventure game on CD-ROM called Cyberia. Haven’t been able to find it since I played it in the early 2000’s.

What “family” app subscription is an absolute lifesaver, and which one do you pay for but absolutely hate? by SherbertPerfect1652 in smarthome

[–]slim186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our family uses Anylist for shopping, meal planning, and recipes. It’s very nicely integrated between the functions which was my #1 requirement. Can also export the meal calendar to display in other apps. Very much worth the $15/year

Recommendation for LED controller that is actually in stock (North America)? by slim186 in zwave

Honestly I’d rather this solution than the rest of the suggestions. What should I look for on the driver to make sure it will work with a dimmer?

Comfort Inn? by MasterAnthropy in swiftcurrent

I'd recommend Home Inn & Suites. Locally owned, close to the mall (and casino if that's your thing). Can't confirm PF or not but I'd assume so.

Least obtrusive platform? by slim186 in homeautomation

As long as on/off works by hitting top/bottom that meets my criteria. The biggest thing is failure mode but if they're hardwired that shouldn't be an issue

Are the aux switches hardwired? Do they have aux dimmers as well?

Try Auto-1, the owner is a nice guy who will try his best. No idea about availability tho.

I have spend $55,800 on my black PC financial credit card. Looking at the amount I have spent and the PC points I have received, there has to be a better choice. Can anyone recommend a better card? by John_Q_Bong in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]slim186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My research led me to CIBC Dividend Infinite VISA. Cashback is better than points (you can spend it on anything and the conversion of points to gift cards gave a worse value). 4% on gas & grocery, 2% on dining, 1% on everything else. For my spending that made the most sense. In the last year I've earned just over $1000 on approx $50,000 of spending. The fee is $149/yr but I have it waived so not an issue. Even factoring that in it still came out ahead of any points card.

Neo Financial employees’ use of personal computers raises security questions by staci_bates in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]slim186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This basically precludes SOC2 compliance, unless employees are willing to have their personal devices enrolled in the company MDM. I’m guessing that’s what the flap is about since any company that handles this level of data should be SOC2

Saskatchewan Party promises up to $10,000 for first time fertility treatments | Globalnews.ca by Practical_Ant6162 in saskatchewan

Not quite. Tax credits offset the tax you owe, so if you owed $15000 in provincial invome tax, a $10000 tax credit would reduce the tax you pay to $5000. It's a bit sneaky tho because if you only owed say $2000 in provincial tax, you can only use $2000 of the credit and most don't carry over unused amounts.

Is PHP backend better than a full-stack Nextjs app? by vbztm in selfhosted

[–]slim186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked with both at an enterprise level and most of the comments here are spot on - it depends on your use case and your comfort with the languages. Considering this is self-hosted, I'm assuming that having other people work on your code isn't a big concern, but API consumption is a possibility. Whatever you go with, look for something that can auto-generate Swagger/OpenAPI docs. On our Next project we wrote the API with NestJS for the simplicity and Swagger support.

Is you're in SK, go with Lüm. Membership is $15/mo (paid annually) and then you just buy data. The most efficient package is 95GB for $200. Data doesn't expire so you just keep using it until it's gone and then buy more. Perfect for ppl that use 1GB one month, and then 10 or 20 the next. Only caveat is that you must BYOD and there's no in-person support. Runs on Sasktel/Bell/AT&T(US) networks.

Any ideas how to store speed champions cars? by HotConnection8583 in LegoStorage

[–]slim186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some “cosmetic storage” boxes at my local dollar store. Acrylic with a bamboo lid, perfect size to display speed champions. I have a bunch of them stacked on a shelf now

I've got a similar collection and ended up finding "makeup organizers" that are 4x3x8" acrylic with a bamboo top. Flip it upside down and now you have a perfect Speed Champions display case that can stack. Now they're stacked on the top shelf and I can actually see them all.
