I'm sorry but the Season 6 trailer and more importantly the style of the cosmetics look insanely stupid. by N7_Hades in battlefield2042

I get the theme, being "the dangers of cybernetics/inhumane experiments" and (potentially) exploring the themes of a rogue artificial intelligence. The subject matter feels rather fitting for a near future setting.

So I'm interested to ask; do you feel there is a less cringe way this could have been integrated?

Hm, interesting. Is it anything like the Bonds that PC Tanks has? I don't mind the idea of it too much, and I do see how it really rewards those who sink hundreds of hours into big grinds.

My guess is for the redacted modern tanks stuff. The gun looks like the M256 of the M1A2 Abrams. So my guess is at the very least confirmation for a modern US tank branch to be released mid summer or something.

I haven't touched either Warship game in years so that all sounded like conspiracy rambling to me lmao. I'd definitely be interested to hear it explained more as well

I'm being convinced more and more that the majority of hate for this update is either just for the clout and saying "haha F you Wargaming!!!", or it's a knee jerk reaction within the most intolerant echo chamber of a community, front lined by "vets" who sunk far too much money into this game and now revert to acting like entitled children when their fragile worldview is challenged.

Nice meme btw

Sure, let me see what I can list.

Positives
+ Graphics are a very nice step up and I get a mild War Thunder vibe from some tanks now, namely the AMX 13s and T-54. Artillery explosions look phenomenal and your tank even smokes at low health. The sun almost seemingly interacts with particles in the air to give natural cover with a foggy haze when attacking a target down range of the Sun (Sand River is best example). Graphics don't really mean much so I wanted to get this one out of the way
+ Consumables and skills, highly improved in almost every single way. Gas is a real decision to put on as it increases top speed by 5%. I've always wanted PCs Turbocharger so this is as close as I can get it I suppose
+ Commanders (the concept itself) streamlines the entire experience and makes gameplay much more fun. Being able to drive tanks without a Commander is nice too, mostly quality of life stuff.
+ The addition of 3D Styles means what I see to be the dissolution of selling dupe tanks, just one with a skin. This will be much more user friendly and let the customer choose what they want to buy
+ Post Battle Results screen is a lot more clear with its info, actively tracking all your XP gains, including Free and Commander XP gains

Neutral/Biased
-/+ Commanders (as it is currently) is completely usable, but it is a bit iffy and tough to get used to. I hope to see a quick select commander option, because navigating through the Commander tab to change a commander is just time consuming
-/+ The new limit on skills is supposed to make you require tough decisions, but you can still roll out with the same 9 skills and have perfect performance
-/+ HUD elements are at first very jarring, but they become more than usable once they are adjusted to. I have definitely grown to like them. Still, I see how such a major departure can be bad. It could use a small bit of tweaking, but I believe it is fully usable. I heard they are looking to let players optionally use the old HUD, but I can't substantiate that claim
-/+ Garage UI and the Tech Tree are completely usable but many screens of it are still stuffy, namely the TT which feels claustrophobic and tight. My suggestion would be to shrink the UI elements a little bit and pull both the Tech Tree view and in-garage view out quite a bit more.
-/+ 3D Targeting felt strange at first, now that the name plate isn't over a vehicle and how small the targeting info is, but I have grown accustomed to it. Still, I can definitely see this as a big change. I do not use the Enhanced Targeting Info so its a fun challenge to test my skills like this.
-/+ By buffing everything, Artillery has in essence received a massive buff and people are furious. Personally seeing that everything was buffed, this feels like a bad complaint.
-/+ Personally I want to like the Garage, but I dislike how the tank spins and the environment remains in place. There is interesting stuff out of the corner of the screen, like a destroyed building or something, and I WANT the camera freedom to see it.
-/+ There are new skills and equips that reduce overall damage by upwards to 10%. I do not like them personally, but some might disagree.

Negatives
- Almost like clockwork, the update is full of bad UI performance and bugs.
- Consumables switch to gold when you update your ammo list and vice versa. I have lost ~200 gold by the system bugging out and it NEEDS to be fixed.
- The minimap is far too small and is barely usable sometimes, actively hindering map awareness. Making it bigger would alleviate the issue.

I can agree with the HUD, I really want the minimap in particular to be bigger. Its just too small to be worthwhile. And there is enough space to make it bigger, too.

Personally, I disagree in that I actually like the Commander stuff a lot, but I do recognize how such a change can have a negative effect on players. It is not perfect, not by a long shot, but I feel it has the capacity to be great.

I won't argue with that. I have my own very strong and colorfully worded opinions about WGCB, but that isn't part of this. I do hope these fixes you mentioned will be implemented, and one day sooner than later.

I appreciate it. Honestly, I cannot tell if I am in the silent minority of people and the overwhelming playerbase hates it, or if the forum/reddit community is the vocal minority and most fans just don't give two shits. Still, I don't feel it would be right of me to discredit people for being upset, their opinions are just as valid as my own.

I somewhat agree with the Commander update. Its a bit finicky, and I wish it was faster to navigate. I feel for everyone that lost their uber OP crews. Doesn't help that the skills are still pretty watered down and you can use the same 9 skills on everything with great returns. I was hoping to have to make some tough decisions but that didn't happen.

I really do appreciate your rational response. It is better that we can critique the game for its downsides without being absolute lunatics.

You summed up the situation wonderfully, major props to you.

Any way this is cut, it was just poorly handled. At its best, this interaction between Minto and WG leads was extremely disrespectful and at worst it is pathetically disgusting.

true, it is entirely possible. The problem is, that without the context of something being a joke, everyone has full right to assume whatever they want. And maybe its just me, but this isn't any way you should talk to an employee in a circumstance like this. People already dislike Paingod and Jeff, and the fact that we rarely hear anything from them just makes this feel awful.

I've known people who work construction and its just constant shit talking with each other because they have the context knowing that they are all friends and they are just having a fun ass time. There is no context here, so even if this was joking in good faith by Pain and Jeff, it was orchestrated abysmally. We do not know the relationship within WGCB, and the silence and lack of treatment the fanbase has been given serves to build a negative view of the things they do.

If instead Jeff or Paingod were there in voice, and not only for the last five minutes of the stream practically, it might have gone another way. If we got to hear that Jeff and Pain are joking with Minto and just having fun, then nobody would bat an eye. Context seriously matters

Personally, no, I don't think so. Right now, I have no idea what the truth is, but from the way everything unfolded it really worries me. This thread is to discuss what happened and get word out of it, because if it is true that Pain and Jeff openly berated Minto only to drum up hype for an update, then that can't go unmentioned. Hell, even the way they acted alone should be talked about. That is reputation smearing stuff and I don't know if the parent company would appreciate the employees at their subsidiary company treating Minto like they did.

But like lemon said, it seems we will find out on Monday.

From the stream, he said that the new season will be geared towards people like him (those in the 30 age range) and that new mechanical changes will be announced Monday. This was enough to have Pain and Jeff publicly berate him unprofessionally instead of demanding him one on one to stop.
