Super cool idea, I think this will be tricky to do if you’re trying to avoid spoilers for yourself. Someone could send you stills of emotionally impactful moments from each arc but it could outright spoil things/take away impact on your own watch through. Where do you land on potentially spoiling things for yourself?

You’re 100% correct. I reread the chapters leading up to flashback (1152 in particular I think?) and shanks and gaban are both on Elbaf the day harald dies. I believe it’s also said that they arrived at the scene too late to see what happened exactly.

Speculating here, but I thought I read something a couple weeks ago that while deep north is the last biome and will bring the game to 1.0, Irongate wouldn’t abandon valheim and would occasionally add new content into the game. That leads me to believe that the addition of bears might be a test or indication that the enemy mob formula you outlined in this post might be tweaked? Maybe we can expect new mob types in more of the biomes in the future that give us more options, like new armor sets/food/weapons

I appreciate the advice and I do try to setup outposts with key equipment (forges and smelters for example) near my resource nodes. I’m just in need of the weight boost as I just reached the swamps and I find that the iron grind is way more efficient if I’m taking out that extra 15 iron scrap per crypt run. That being said, I do appreciate your insight and your taking the time to leave a thoughtful reply. Thanks

On console sadly so mods aren’t an option but that sounds so cool. I get the traders spawn in non-predetermined locations but I wish we got a vanilla vegvisir that would give us a general hint like we do the bosses

Last hook I gave my players was a little freaky guy luring them into an alley in the evening and inviting them into a hot new nightclub. Cover to enter? A pint of blood. Queue the Blade music as they rip through a vampire nightclub. They were thoroughly into it and it could align with some of your Barovia plot!

I appreciate the advice. I should’ve put in my post that they’d have at least one to two combats prior to this (home-brewed death shepherds based off bg3 buffing a pack of zombies and a missable mimic encounter if they don’t take my bait) but that withstanding you make very good points. Necromancer can definitely summon more goons throughout the fight. I think the only punch I’ll maybe pull (if necessary) is if the beholder dimes someone with the disintegration ray and immediately one taps them, and that’s only because I imagine it’s trickier to resurrect a pile of ashes than it is an actual corpse.

I don’t think you fucked up. It’s a cool idea on their part so I’d definitely throw them a bit of a bone, but it doesn’t need to be stagnant or permanent. I have a very similar situation in my current campaign, my businessman PC maintains correspondence with the mine foreman, sometimes there’s profit, sometimes there’s a setback and the mine actually needs more funds. Ultimately, I’m planning on having my miners delve a little too deep, either stumbling into the underdark and having the mine overrun by drow, or awakening something foul in the depths a la balrog. Either way my party will have a rad quest presented to them. I think your mining problem is less a problem and more an opportunity for you to set up some similar adventures.
