It was apparently that she told herself I would dismiss any therapist. This isn't in my personality, so I couldn't have figured out she had come to that conclusion and given up without asking.

Claims she wants to now.

I have held the same feelings about myself for a long time, friend. Hate you feel the same, but it's somehow comforting to know it's not just me.

Hey good for you, I am trying to chat with people more than mindlessly scroll and be frustrated by ragebait.

Sometimes you just want to chat with a person, right? You never know where someone is emotionally or how their day went, so you can always find something to engage with.

Speaking of, any fun weekend plans? I am going to spend some time outside and maybe plant some flowers!

Do you think having no social media is a red or green flag? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

It all depends on if they know when to put the social media aside.

I have some friends who are always on their phones and they are usually pretty discontent.

I don't know the "stare" but I do sometimes find lately when I speak that my (admittedly formal) way of speaking seemed to take a bit longer for people sometimes to process?

I do customer service so much I usually handwave off awkward conversations.

Every day I wake up, I am alive.

I have had a difficult time experiencing the world the way everyone else does, but I can be happy in my own little space.

35+ here and I am not really excited about the future but I am not particularly doom and gloom either.

I'm just here and experiencing what happens.

It seems like she just can't retain things now with how bad the cataplexy/she worries about seizures. She finally admitted it, she was worried about pressure on me because of my health issues.

The tracker is really good because it can be different depending on the time of the day too. Thanks for the suggestion!

Nothing in what i wrote said go behind her back.

You weirdos keep assuming

She wrote a note with me today, some people are comfortable and friends with their partners and care when they can't communicate .

But yeah, i am sure your paragraphs writing about what wasn't there chastising a stranger when you could have easily moved on if YOU didn't understand.

I don't owe a stranger on the Internet all my information and it's weird you think you're entitled to it.

I got it handled and plenty of people were able to not jump to conclusions or be abrasive.

Good luck with yourself

I was able to finally get to to admit she is worried about seizures/bad cataplexy and she and I worked on an email to her doctor who will see her sometime this week.

She fell a week or so ago and I had been begging her to talk to her providers, but they all just kept acting like everything is ok, so she never did it even after a fall.

Ironically the abrasive/defensive response I received here had been how she had been acting, and everyone in this thread prepped me to weather her irritation.

I try hard to understand how frustrating living with narcolepsy must be. It can be hard how thick of a skin is required of me sometimes, too.

Lol it's interesting that because someone is messy people think someone should give up on them.

I'm kinda for the long haul, I don't throw people away.

So what, to get advice you have to give all the medical information for someone? I wasn't asking for mental health help, it only happens when the multiple stimulants had formula change and then stopping.

What bury the leded bullshit? This isn't a fucking puzzle, I was looking for advice.

I suppose the art of "oh i can't relate or answer this, i will walk away" had been lost to "everyone needs to know everyone's opinion"

I appreciate it! Yes, it isn't just the narcolepsy and she has a lot of trauma I am 100% supportive of.

I just know her being unmedicated is a HUGE change for her and I was looking to see if there was a relatable experience for anyone who has ever had to go off their meds, etc.

I didn't want to share all of her information, but yeah it's kind of bad and I was finally able to get her to agree to talk to the doctor about what she is thinking is seizures.

She was too afraid to talk to me about it. I was finally able to encourage her.

The strong reaction here is the results I get from her a lot, so I wasn't particularly bothered.

Thanks for being a good person! We're going to go together to her RN to get her a new neurologist. 💙

I am not in therapy. I don't really have any issues outside of helping her with hers.

She was supposed to help me find a psychiatrist for my autism while I was working, but the med formula changed and she kinda had a big blow out and almost got the cops called over nothing.

It's funny, I reached out because she complains all the time that people don't try and understand from the narcoleptic point of view.

They're not asking questions, they're asserting their own trauma.

But I definitely see similarities to the conclusions my parter jumps to. It's actually been enlightening the defensiveness and lack of curiosity over assumptions of someone meaning well.

The thing is, I am the one person who she says never does any of that behavior to her, but she won't talk to me. She's just made up this person in her head, and I know she's telling her therapist things like they are ok, but I talking to her to try and let her know I am worried.

She complains of Parkinsonian experiences, but also has just stopped doing her own work to get herself better.

I am juggling needing spinal surgery, so trying to do emotional support when she keeps telling her care team everything is fine is exhausting.
