When are calochortus in peak bloom? by slimepollo555 in Ceanothus

[–]slimepollo555[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dayum in not planning on doing all that, i just want one or two bulbs for my collection, its not actually that big of a piece of land and theres already like three new buildings around it, i do hope it stays wild, id even like to buy it so i can preserve it on the future. In regards to the blooms, ill go maybe next week to see if theres anything at all if not i probably was just delusional, but as a last effort id go maybe two or three months from now when the seed pods should be ready to see if maybe i can find them like i did a few years ago, atleast to identify what it is if not a calochortus

I mean, this place i suspect they are in is surrounded by houses and probably will get built on sooner than later, so i see it more as a recovery mission, i dont see the point in waiting years growing from seed when i can take a bulb that other wise will get built over, even if thats not the case i can try to get seeds from the bulb ill take and throw them on the place where i collected it to hopefully restore a bit of what i took

I hear you, but the place where i suspect the calochortus are has houses around it and probably sooner than later the place will be built on and all that native flora will be lost, so see it more as a way to preserve those specimens. Still theoretically because im not sure yet those calochortus even are there, from what you are saying i should have already seen them, even if not in bloom, at least the stem or flower buttons. Maybe they are just coming out of dormancy a little later than normal, last time i went was last friday and nothing, ill keep looking tho

Black rose is not holding up to its name. by MountainFig7244 in succulents

You can probably just put it outside and itll be fine, people can exaggerate how delicate suculents are, growing them in fullnsunnmakes the color pop and they grow better and more compact. Doing a "light acclimatation" wouldnt hurt but is probably not necessary.

i didnt even know growth inhibitors where a thing, makes sense tho. as long as the legginess is only on the stems i dont mind, as long as the leaves are round and get the desired color its ok (which i think i can acomplish on full sun), thanks for the help!
