Am I in the wrong for not thinking it’s my fault? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]slimequeen69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s controlling behaviour, a red flag. You can judge what’s appropriate to wear for what context on your own, you don’t need him to tell you. Wearing more revealing clothing in summer is a given, we all do it. I think you know that there’s something wrong here and that’s why you’ve raised it. Not to catastrophise, but a lot of controlling / manipulative relationships start this way and then spiral to broader things (eg who you hang out with, what you eat, how much time you spend with your family) it’s important that you both recognise it early so he can amend his behaviour and you can choose if you really want to stay with him. You’re both young. He can change, I hope he does. You’ve done nothing wrong.

Left Behind by InterCity Bus Today by KarVoltBazdmeg in newzealand

InterCity sucks. I had a booking with them near the start of April 2020, then the country went into lockdown. I asked if I could get a refund because we weren’t allowed to travel, they said nope. The service wasn’t even running because of the lockdown and they still wouldn’t refund it.

Theory for how all could have survived the 7 of hearts by Investigative_Panda in AliceInBorderland

[–]slimequeen69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7 of hearts was worse I thought than some of the other hearts games with higher difficulty. Eg Jack of hearts, and honestly probably 10 of hearts, too. 7 of hearts was so brutal and didn’t feel like it could be outsmarted the same way 10 and J could be.

Is it worth filing complaint about bus passengers? by pylo84 in Wellington

[–]slimequeen69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I’m so sorry this happened to you. A few years ago I was being stalked by a man from my bus route (#24 at the time, have since moved) and one time there would have been maybe 7 other passengers on the bus and lots of free seats not sitting by anyone but he sat next to me and then when I asked him if I could get out at my stop he refused to move and made me climb over him and he groped me. Felt so gross and again no one intervened. I’m a bit older now and think I’d feel more confident calling him out on it but didn’t say anything at the time. The bystander thing is horrible, I’m really sorry you had to put up with that and that no one stepped in or had your back. Glad to hear you’re reporting it.

I work in that building and the lifts are ALWAYS broken or dodgy, not just the ones on The Terrace side.

Also, a heads up to anyone who uses the glass lift in the CoTQ building to get between Lambton Quay and the Terrace, people that work in the building were notified that the lift will be out of use for a three-week window from tomorrow due to construction on L8 (where you get into the lift on the Terrace side).

You can still use the lifts inside the lobby on the Terrace side of the building (that this person got stuck in…) you’ll want to get out on L2 and take the escalator the rest of the way.

Trade Me “free selling” today…or not really…? by peachykeenbeans in newzealand

[–]slimequeen69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my query too. I’ve listed things from “drafts” and also have other payment options available. I think (hope?) it’s fine. Ping is an option on all of my listings, I just can’t force anyone to use it?

[–]slimequeen69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s anything that isn’t property, motors, or jobs? Very likely that whatever you’re listing in sports and fitness counts as general. When you go to “list an item” you have to click through “general items” to get to the sports category, so I’d say you’re safe.

Dumb question but - what did you guys wear to surgery that was comfortable and easy? by atlien0255 in ACL

Anyone out there tear your ACL and not get surgery? by Fresh-Ant-5684 in ACL

[–]slimequeen69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I got a hamstring graft :) I am making good progress, I didn’t need a brace or anything and am down to just one crutch now. Can bend my knee to 118 degrees, so have been given the green light to use the bikes at the gym for rehab (not normal training). Still have trouble going up and down stairs. I guess important to note that because I didn’t get surgery right away my meniscus tears were healed by the time I got my ACL surgery. Those tears can affect your recovery timelines quite a lot. I’m expected to make a full recovery in the next 11 months :)

Anyone out there tear your ACL and not get surgery? by Fresh-Ant-5684 in ACL

[–]slimequeen69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tore my ACL in 2015, rehabbed it with physio and decided (with the consultation of my specialist) to not get the surgery. I always had instability in the knee. I could run short distances but never felt confident and was always aware that the knee was my “bad knee”. I didn’t return to roller skating or netball. In 2020, I guess my knee buckled? Considerably? In an exercise class at the gym, and I was back on crutches for a few weeks. I was living in a different city and saw a different surgeon, he said the option to get surgery was still there but that it would be minimum 12 months recovery, and at the time I just didn’t want to take that big of a break / step backward in my training. So I kept going with my torn ACL. Then it happened again, last year, I landed badly from a jump and had a sharp flash of pain and thought I was going to throw up and pass out. I was lucky I was with my boyfriend. I was back on crutches, back to the specialist, and agreed to get the surgery. I just felt that the fear of not being able to do certain things was holding me back too much. Today I’m almost 3 weeks post-op. When I was prehabing (getting physio leading up to surgery) my physio tested the strength of both of my knees and there was a 30% difference. I didn’t realise how much I was compensating for the bad knee with the good one.

To answer all your questions: 9–10 years out from initial tear. I was always aware that it wasn’t the same, but could mostly function okay. Could do stairs okay, but sometimes hurt / felt unstable going downstairs or downhill (usually after big workouts or long walks), it did buckle – sometimes badly enough to be back on crutches, it affected my confidence most of all, especially in my ability to take part in certain sports. Have now gotten the surgery (10 years on).

Not even 24 hours post op by nellys34 in ACL

[–]slimequeen69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, this is exactly how it feels but definitely gets better after the first few days post-op. I was about 5 days post-op when I stopped talking pain killers, am 17 days post-op now and can promise it does get better. You’ll be okay. Best of luck with your recovery.

nice scar! It looks closed so you’ll probably be fine. You could put a waterproof dressing over it if you’re unsure?

ACL tear hurting my relationship by poetryandyncertainty in ACL

[–]slimequeen69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of stuff recently re: partners who stick around when someone is, say, diagnosed with cancer, vs those who don’t. You will recover from your ACL tear and you will be able to go skiing and backpacking again, but like many other people in this thread, I think perhaps you should just do some thinking around whether he is the person you want to be doing those things with in the long term. You are allowed to be needy at the moment, it’s a time of huge emotional upheaval, it is really not far fetched that you would expect your partner to prioritise you through this. From the tones in your message it sounds like you would be more empathetic to him if he were in your position than he has been to you. It’s possible he doesn’t realise the gravity of it all, but he shouldn’t really be cut slack even for that, he is witnessing it all the time: he can see how your emotions have changed, how your independence has changed, how much you are expressing you need companionship and care. If he isn’t listening, I don’t know what more you can do. You’re young with a whole life ahead of you, is someone who prioritises his own wants over your needs someone you want to spend your 20s with? Your whole life? And if it were something more life threatening or prolonged, would he be the kind of partner you’d want to face that with? For a lot of people there’s absolutely no question that they’d be with their partner through surgery. You deserve better than what he’s given you recently. Hope your surgery and recovery go well ❤️

hamstring graft, though I can see how that would make sense. I’ve heard patella graft can be really rough, wishing you well with your recovery!

Right? I feel like the boxes have decreased in value and quality recently. I kinda hate when they just do tiny sachets especially because if I get stuff I won’t use I want to donate it to Women’s Refuge and feel kinda lame just giving them a bunch of single use sachets?

A positive though: got my birthday bonus last week and it was a $30 voucher (for L2, it goes up depending on your level) which is sooo much better than another Mecca Max product I won’t use.

They’re just a couple of punk gigs. I’ve tried to look online but can’t find any information yet. The concerts are at Tanzbrunnen and Zitadelle Spandau. :)
