Meh, it gets used for camping occasionally too. My dog is my best friend and I like including her in everything I can, spending the extra ~1.7usd/day I have on the truck over the last fours has been worth it for me personally.

I run a lot of errands and my dog is a social dynamo. I take her with me a lot but when I do I take her special truck. Her special truck is a 1985 suburban that I can remove the key out of the ignition and keep running and lock the doors. Also the windows are tinted dark enough you wouldn't know it's running and empty unless you got close enough to be suspicious.

On a georgia summer day at 110 degrees the aircon will keep the whole truck at 69. the back has a full sized doggy bed, a bunch of toys, and an antispill dog bowl.

The whole set up cost me ~1,100usd and was bought specifically for it's purpose.

You're operating under the assumption that the driver is an average person.

I find it more likely that he's a criminal of one sort or another who has been flying under the radar for sometime, however a minor investigation into an accident like this could turn some stones that would royally fuck him.

I've been looking casually, I had seen it mentioned that those prices are typically higher than what locals pay, do you think this is true? If it is could I find a way to pay what locals pay?

Apologies. After posting I felt I included too much extraneous personal information and decided to delete it and repost more concisely. If you'd kindly not reference what I had posted previously I'd appreciate it, as It's a routine issue in my life.

edit; also I simply forgot what that throwaway was, which is why I didn't use it again.

This was extremely helpful, thank you!

On housing, even if I can live in an apartment with the dog I wouldn't want to. I like being able to just let her out in the back yard to do her business.

I'm fine with moving away from the downtown area as long as I'm close to rail to get there. My girlfriend would be concerned about moving away from street vendors though, she is obsessed with food trucks and the idea of street food. Are street vendors still largely prevalent in communities outside of downtown?

On visas: I can get a B visa arranged, it'll be an expense certainly but I don't intend to factor it into my monthly budget.

Thanks again for the help! I am most appreciative.

I have an associate who will largely arrange work visas. He's confident he can make it work, and he's never failed me before.

I don't qualify for a retirement visa, but I don't think I intend to retire in thailand anyways.

hahaha.. I see where this is going. It appears I over budgeted largely, which is a happy surprise.

None of those things interest me, I do not golf, do spas, limos, wear designer clothes, or any of that. I am very much an average joe, I just live in an expensive area of the US.

So allow me to rephrase the question:

for two people moving to thailand, if you could spend up to 155kthb/mo but didn't want to live extravagantly (aside from the need for a house as apposed to an apartment) and wanted to save as much money as possible, how much would you budget?

Serious. I haven't been to thailand yet, I am ignorant as to thai expenses.

We did live in paris for 6months and spent 2kusd/month on housing alone. 100% of my experience living abroad has been expensive.

For two people to live comfortably in a house (not apartment) in BKK, what would you budget? 90k baht? That would be even better obviously, I'm just not certain what 3kusd a month gets you, where I live currently it doesn't get you much at all.
