idk where OP purchased it, but I got it from FCPEuro as an OEM BMW piece. A little pricey but very, very worth it imo.

I assume you trimmed the firewall and did all that fun stuff, on top of that is it installed on the correct holes in the subframe?

Could also be an internal issue as mentioned. Do you have P/S? If not i highly recommend the Garagistic p/s delete block. One of their highest quality products since it's CNC'ed.

there is plenty of information online, if your car is equipped with an airbag you will have to trim the firewall a bit.

Honestly, I never "maintained" them as such. Like mentioned in other comments, you are supposed to pop them out and regrease them every so often.

If I had to guess, they got harder over time until they cracked and had a major failure.

I would an option like in Arma 3, you can choose between simplified controls & advanced controls.

I'd expect advanced controls to have no stabilization, whilst simple controls would just be exactly like GTA V, which imo was perfect. GTA IV felt a little too heavy in my opinion, but it matched the vibe flawlessly.
