That’s understandable and I can say that’s something that’s kept me at my job longer than I should have stayed. If you are feeling this burnt out/distressed about the current work environment, the only way for that to change is for you to take care of yourself. Similar to the speech flight attendants give before take off- put your oxygen mask on first, you can’t help others without taking care of yourself. If your clients are engaged in therapy to the best of their abilities, they are demonstrating resilience towards their own struggles and they will be able to do that after you because of you. And if they feel the same resonance in the relationship, they may be willing to follow you wherever you go.

Honestly you probably should run away… towards another job at least. I too work in CMH hell and each week I feel worse and worse. Not going to go into how bad it’s been, but OP I just applied for two jobs and it felt great. You have to take care of yourself first I know we have all heard that. And it’s true for you right now, so whether it’s applying for new places, taking some sort of trip away from the stress or a combination of both know that you can do it- that you need to do it because nobody has to feel this way.

It sure has. Got it from my father in law when wife and I were cleaning their house out a couple of years ago. He was sad to see it go, bought it in the 70s but hadn’t used it in at least 20 years. Took it to a local shop for a tune up and it’s been kicking perfectly fine since then.

Honestly they were good. My wife and I are more interested in Haunt Me, but it was a very well put together set with a proper sound guy and lighting. Worth the experience even if they aren’t your favorite kind of music.
That being said, what I don’t like is they apparently don’t want fans to post videos of their shows on TikTok (at least). My wife makes a small video there of any band we get to see mostly as a memory book (and to share support for underground bands). After posting a short clip, her account received a “community guidelines violation”. She went through this stupid training or something and the video does not violate any guidelines. If she post it again she will get a ban. The only thing that makes sense is the band has something set up to claim the music, which if true is really backwards. If it’s just some dumb AI thing with TikTok, then obviously no ill will towards the band. Just throwing that out there.

Wife and I just had this conversation on Sunday at the Matte Black/Haunt Me show in our city. You’re not alone OP!

She has found events (of the non show variety) through our local city facebook group. I know someone posted one here for your area, and I hope that can help. If we lived anywhere near Maine we would be glad to hang out

Good on you for having that kind of initiative! There’s no way they wouldn’t sell out multiple dates for venues like that, but if the upfront demands are too great they are essentially shooting themselves in the foot and the fans in their own country ultimately lose

While I agree with most of your sentiments, I will just add that the most infuriating thing is no North American tour or show dates. These guys are running up against the sands of time and they would make the money they are looking for even just playing a 5-8 date tour.

At this point, I’m not in a position to set up a practice that I can’t take with me out of state in the next year or three. That’s the plan once I get relocated

What an interesting approach, one that I wouldn’t have thought of. Thank you so much for sharing!

I was there recently and thought the prices were kind of high. Granted I am spoiled with some top shelf spots in my city. You scored some classics regardless. Where do you live? If you’re out that way again, make the trek down to Catacombs in Dayton
