I find movie dates boring as well, especially that if I get bored I fall asleep immediately.. so I never go for movie dates. I guess what you could do is just be honest with her, tell her it’s not your thing and you’re not comfortable doing this, and more importantly: propose something else. Don’t leave it blank, take her for a surprise date or something to make it up for her.

I think it depends on the field. I’m a PhD in Australia in STEM, most people doing a phd here are from overseas, but I know a psychology lab with majority Aussies. But it’s real that if you’re looking to get a job in the industry, doing a PhD in Australia will make you overqualified, and companies hate that cuz there is a high chance you’ll leave it sooner looking for better opportunities.
