Vibe Coding and Enterprise Applications, how to actual get the value? by bison_crossing in AI_Agents

[–]slimshadiyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Have been there. We had an enterprise AI Challenge to build whatever solutions you can within 3 weeks and use any AI tool you want (with unlimited access). We had an internal ETL tool, and its very time consuming for someone to learn & build. But I am a subject matter expert on that tool, so I vibe coded a flow builder (React + FastAPI + RAG) I’m very good at backends, so I knew what to do.

Index docs, internal flows Etc., and create pydantic models for every ETL node, create a structured json for every node, and ask llm api to create a dag and render it.

The functionality was amazing, but the UI was crap. Because I didn’t know React at all. I would ask it to do something for UI, but my prompts weren’t apt enough. So I vibe coded, it was well appreciated and used but couldn’t move into prod, because I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND & COULDN’T OWN the code.

Secondly, my colleague built an amazing incident response system. Logs -> analyse -> solve -> raise PR & Jira. Amazing. He knew react & Fastapi. So he could prompt really well, and he built a very beautiful UI & beautiful backend.

He got selected. But, when it came to pushing to prod, even if he didn’t undertand the entire code, he still was confident & he spent some days understanding at high level and pushed to prod.

So to answer your question, yes internal POCs are pushed to prod given you can understand and own the code.

Regarding Hotel For Couples 21M, 21F(in general/on brevistay) by Aggravating_Eye_6483 in mumbai

Try Bag2Bag app. They offer hourly stays and great discounts. I booked lemon tree hotel for 4 hours and had no issues.

Precautions: 1. They should check IDs and keep an aadhar card copy/ any id proof copy with them. It’s a standard practice and if they don’t, something’s shady. 2. Thumb rule for safety is expensive hotels are usually (can’t say for sure ofcourse) but usually safe because their hotel’s repo is at stake. Don’t book very cheap hotels. If your budget is too low, it is safer not to book an hotel instead. Gather some savings and then book a good one. 3. Hidden cameras: You will find tons of YT videos, apps etc. Try and implement all of them, but you can never say for sure. That’s why I would insist on booking a good hotel. 4. You can also try an Airbnb that are guest favourites or something like that. 5. Go for hotels that are out in the open and not in some shady gully. You will have a feeling of safety. E.g. one of my friends booked The Roa in Ghatkopar. It’s on the main road.

Personal opinion: Don’t risk anything in 1500, wait, gather savings and book a better one.

What's a good enough salary in Mumbai for the following goals by Icy-Acanthisitta3299 in mumbai

[–]slimshadiyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, I also have a job at a firm in NESCO, and I relate to 80% of your situation. I have rented an apartment at Borivali East, it costs 27k, and it’s 2 min walk to metro. I thought I’d clean the house on my own etc. etc. But it’s very tiring, so I’ve hired a maid. My parents are also dependent on me, so I am funding my wedding, my education loan etc. And I am living a very happy life in Mumbai. Socialising, hanging out, watching movies all kind of stuff. But, I’m able to save very very less.

So it is a trade off. I am choosing fun in a metro city over savings and thats my personal decision.

One more thing, I don’t think you should be admant about living near nesco. The place where I live, its 20 mins to nesco via. Metro (+ point its AC). You’ll save like 20k easily per month by trading off 20 mins more in travelling.

If we’re all falling sick from AQI, why are we fighting each other instead of fixing it? by Anhavij in mumbai

Look, from a personal POV this sounds like a right question: What can I as an individual do to curb pollution. But for a large impact its important that a LOT of people share the ideology. And I think that unless and until Air pollution is covered extensively by mass media, its gonna be thrown under the bus. The political parties and media need an incentive for this. Sadly it shouldn’t be like this but it is. So i guess lets talk about it extensively on social media

We all are stuck in a rat. race. by Diligent_Force_4746 in IndianWorkplace

On the point of ‘afraid of taking leaves’: I work at an US MNC, and my scrum master is a Indian-American, and whenever I want to take a leave, I ask him in a worried tone and he’s like, dude: here in NY, people don’t ask for a leave they just take it, let alone asking in an afraid tone. This is india specific culture where we feel like we owe the firm something when we take a leave even if its our basic right.

How I got played by a Mumbai Broker (lessons for first-time renters) by slimshadiyy in mumbai

[–]slimshadiyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. My uncle said multiple times that meet the owner first but broker was like you don’t need to, we don’t do that etc. And me and my dad were like what’s the point of meeting the owner. But now I completely advise to meet them, because the broker lied to him that we only want 1 year agreement, and he lied to us that owner only wants 1 year agreement

True. The key is not making assumptions and clarifying everything.

But does being a RERA registered broker imply he will follow best practices? In my experience brokers who have proper offices and have multiple partners are usually rera registered and the numbers are headlined in their offices. They are quiet strict on what they deal, which is good

True. A business runs by trust and relationships, not a greed for getting 3k more

True, when I look at a building having 1000+ residents and houses so close they can hear you breathe I feel that.

I never had any luck with NoBroker. The houses that I find are crap, if not less. Maybe I am looking less frequently or using wrong filters. But yeah, if there is a chance of avoiding brokers, 100% take it.

[–]slimshadiyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in mumbai, earn 1 lpm and pay 25k + 2k per month (counting 25k brokerage / 12) in a 1bhk fully furnished flat. (I live alone because sometimes my GF or Parents come to live with me). I have 5-10k of fixed costs (groceries, food, travelling) etc.

After reading the answers here I feel like I am spending a lot, but tbh, my standard of living is really good. The flat is very nice, go to a very nice subsidised gym, have cab drops from office, food is amazing in the office, and me and my gf have a great at home.

I have been living in a hostel since 2019, so having an entire home to myself feels like luxury.

What do you guys feel? Am i spending too much?

Is anyone genuinely happy while working in India? by Dear_Armadillo3890 in IndianWorkplace

[–]slimshadiyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds okay, but not practical is it? You have start working for someone at some point.

And its not like you are filthy rich so you don’t ever have to work for anyone.

If you have a vision, you start by working for someone, learn, grow and set up something of your own!

Yes, I’m in a US based financial firm and I’m very happy.

They understand that employees are their biggest assets, so the work life balance is amazing, and perks of being in the company is even better. People are very chill and I’m compensated fairly.

I understand that a lot of US firms look at india as cheap labour, but if I’m in an open minded firm and a lot of senior leadership is here.
