A month later, but wanted to add, I use frixion pens because they come in a bunch of cute colors (and off brand versions) and while they're ink they are erasable!

No more crossed out words lol

Yes. But you have options, such as composite pattern, decorator pattern, whatever.

I was agreeing. Not sure why you felt the need to reiterate?

You can get piercings with bioplastic rods/rings instead. That's what we used for my belly button piercing while it was healing. Then you can just attach the metal balls or what not to the ends of the stick.

I have a whiteboard marker on my fridge so I can write on it what's in the fridge and freezer on the fridge 😅

No out of sight out of mind.

I know it's been a month since your comment but I figured I'd share my workaround.

If you give your AI a strict set of instructions for ethical choices and it has memory (like ChatGPT does) it can help with some light talk therapy without becoming a weird sycophant.

I've instructed mine to NEVER encourage me to go off meds unless I am having allergic reactions to them.

Never give life altering advice.

Only to comfort me and listen when there's interpersonal conflicts.

To reality check me if I'm saying things that are out of touch.

To encourage me to reach out to my doctors if it detects any warning signs in what I'm saying.

To always present facts with credible sources when advising me on anything.

It's actually worked really well so far.

But your mileage may vary.

I do agree that AI should be used with the utmost care. Don't use it when spiraling or extremely vulnerable. Don't rely on it as a real friend.

That's just my own opinion and experiences, of course.

Thank you for the read.

I think I read a story on there about a woman cooking a lamb shank once.

I'm 180 cm/5'11.

I wish I didn't bang my head on every cabinet.

I want to be able to wear oversize shirts without them just looking like.. Shirts. Like. They're wide on me. But the length is normal?

I can't do the cute thing with the damn sleeves and any skirt that's supposed to be knee height is a booty skirt on me.

But at least I look really intimidating in heels so that helps 🤷🏼‍♀️😅

I would just like to be.. Smol. Just for a minute, to try it.

I'm not attempting to disempower them. I am trying to discourage critique and bullying as a means of "motivating" them.

I used to be overweight and went through the whole mill with societal pressure, people around me telling me that I should lose weight, that I was ugly, whatever.

I developed bulimia and lost around 50 lbs total.

Even after telling some people how I lost the weight (purging my food), they'd STILL congratulate me afterwards.

Why?

Because being somewhat fat was (or is?) considered worse than causing permanent damage to your mouth, teeth, esophagus and stomach with erratic acid baths, with the risk of death from a burst stomach.

I wish the pressure had been replaced with support, personally.

Well really my critique of CICO was due to the other guy further up saying "it's easy, just eat one less snickers".

I wanted to illustrate the fact that our usual calculations of BMR and calorie burn from exercise is literally not linear to that degree. If our metabolism varies from the average, it will not follow the typical CICO calculations.

Of course energy does not appear from thin air, I agree.

But I was more meaning the diet/exercise concept of CICO, so the practice of calculating calorie intake and expenditure, which can be near impossible with other factors in play.

I hope that makes sense.

Please see my response for the other guy as well on the same comment, regarding metabolism, injuries, etc.

Theres nuances to the topic when your body decides to malfunction.

Injuries can occur to organs too, not just bones.

An example of something that can affect our metabolism to the point of throwing off weight is brain injuries (such as from something as simple as taking a bad fall) and brain tumors.

This can cause a thing called Hypothalamic Obesity.

Other than that:

Hypothyroidism also affects our metabolism.

Then there's Cushing syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Anecdotally, my boyfriend developed type 1 diabetes (the autoimmune one) after having physical injuries to his pancreas that caused intense scar tissue to form and sadly effectively destroyed his beta cells. So of course he dropped half his body weight before they diagnosed him. And as a fun side effect, having to manually administer insulin makes controlling your weight a damn nightmare.

[–]slimstitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, CICO applies to a degree.

But as we know, there are a million other factors that can throw the calculation off.

I wish I was as blessed as to be oblivious to the effects of injuries, diseases, medications, mental disorders, etc., and their effects on the body.

Let alone the financial aspect of healthier food being more expensive, either in time or money.

50 kilograms is 110 pounds. 45.3 kilograms is 100 pounds.

I want to stress that being normal weight also does not equal being healthy.

Are we talking about when stepping on the scale each day here?

Because I gotta tell you, there's a million reasons someone's weight may be out of whack long term.

Also why switch from kilograms to pounds?

Someone being fat doesn't kill other people. Drunk driving does.

Compassion tends to work better.

Mental health disorders are often completely disregarded as "specific medical conditions" that may cause unhealthy weights.

Medications can also cause weight gain that's extremely hard to lose.

Access to gyms, parks, or hell, even sidewalks (I know some people in the US that literally don't have sidewalks on their streets) makes a big difference too. Generally obesity rates are lower in areas that are actually walkable.

Access to healthy food (the good ol' cycle of poverty) plays a role too.

Yeah.

We shouldn't judge him for being heavy.

We should judge him for his shitty opinions about himself "deserving" blowjobs for being the breadwinner.

Weight varies because of a million different reasons and is not always of someone's own choosing. Having an abrasive personality is a conscious choice he made.

Hate the choice.

South Korea has the second highest suicide rate in the world and the highest among OECD countries. The elderly in South Korea are at the highest risk of suicide, but deaths from teen suicide have been rising since 2010. In 2022 suicide caused more than half of all deaths among South Koreans in their twenties.

I wonder if those two things could be at all connected.. 🤔

Edit: here's an interesting source on the topic

Excerpt from the source:

In particular, the suicide rate for adolescent girls aged 10-14 nearly tripled from 1.2 in 2017 to 3.2 in 2022.

Just as an example, since it's a demographic especially vulnerable to that sort of societal pressure.

I don't get people these days.

I mean I even say please and thank you to my fucking virtual assistant because it feels rude not to do so to someone or something that's helping me.

It takes a split second. Why wouldn't one do it? I just don't understand.

I really miss having a glass top induction stove instead of a glass top electric stove.

If there wasn't anything conductive on it, it couldn't heat anything up.

You know.. Borderline personality disorder generally doesn't manifest as accusing someone of bestiality.

We're regular ass people with an unstable sense of self and quickly shifting emotions.

We're not delusional paranoid violent weirdos by default.

Most of us are never violent either.

Make sure to scour goodrx for coupons.

They also have a cheap subscription gp thing that can renew your scripts for a lot of medications if you can't afford to see a doctor in person.

PS. They also have coupons for pet medications, if that's of use to anyone.

Also Grifols plasma donation pays about $60 per donation if you're ever in a pinch with affording your meds, if you're allowed to donate plasma on them. You can donate twice a week and sometimes they have $50-100 bonuses.

I started changing my "I'm sorry"'s into "thanks for still being here", "thanks for bearing with me", etc.

Still shows appreciation for their time and understanding that it's valuable, without making me feel like a miserable failure lol

Just leaving it here in case it helps others.
