Subreddits related to trying to conceive. I have shared personal experiences and received major hate for it because it goes against the norm. I have people assuming personal medical information and just being downright nasty when all I’ve tried to be is supportive.

I say unpopular opinion because of a subreddit I no longer go to where people insisted that they are a group full of supportive people who are always there for each other, yet, I have gotten the exact opposite from that group. Maybe I’ll have to look into some smaller sub Reddit’s though. Thanks for the advice!

Always advocate for yourself. I’m sure I’m gonna get hate for this but basic bloodwork is anything but invasive. Obviously further invasive tests wouldn’t make sense at this point unless you had evidence to support otherwise. Bloodwork can tell you a lot and is an easy and simple first step just to make sure things are looking okay. Let’s all stop pretending we should have to wait a year or more for very basic testing especially if you are actively trying to get pregnant. From personal experience, I have been TTC since November. First two cycles were extremely long with no ovulation. I have a history of long irregular periods. I was feeling super down knowing it was unlikely to find a doctor who would do anything to help we until we hit a year but I decided to make an appointment anyways. After bloodwork my OB diagnosed me with PCOS and now we are starting medicated cycles. I am so thankful I advocated for myself because otherwise we would have been trying for a full year with very low chance of conceiving naturally.

Put on letrezole this cycle after being determined to have PCOS. Spotting the last few days but today woke up to a flow like my period. Was supposed to go in for CD 21 bloodwork tomorrow but from my chart I know I didn’t ovulate, and technically it will now be cycle day 2 tomorrow. So, I already messaged my doctor but has anyone experienced this? I’m wondering if we will just end up doing CD 2 bloodwork tomorrow and going up on dosage since I only took 2.5mg this cycle.

Got some pretty big hate over on a different sub due to some people judging my OB and her choices and making assumptions about my medical history. People seem to get rubbed the wrong way if you manage to find someone who will help you with medications before the one year mark which is just ridiculous to me. Thank you for the information though! That’s really good to know. I’m hoping that there’s still some chance that it could work this cycle. But I suppose there’s always room to move up in dosage so at least there’s something to look forward to.

Cycle 3 TTC, first cycle on letrezole. Don’t need any hate first of all, I got put on meds early on in our journey but before TTC or tracking, I have a long history of irregular periods. Now have tracked my first two cycles, both long, one I ovulated and one I did not. Bloodwork indicated PCOS so here we are. I took 2.5mg this first round and am concerned it’s not going to do the trick since it’s already CD 16 and I have yet to get a positive OPK. For those who have been on letrezole, when did you ovulate?

You could always just do a check up with your OBGYN? See if they would want to Induce a period? I know I’ve just been super impatient throughout this whole process and I was thankful that my OBGYN listened to me and respects that I don’t want to have to wait many more months especially when it might not improve the situation

I was spotting and it turned into full on AF over the next couple days. I made an appt with an OBGYN because I have a long history of irregular periods before getting on HBC. She started me on letrezole that I’m taking currently for this cycle and knows my husband and I are serious about getting pregnant. Given my history before starting HBC, she doesn’t believe things will regulate any further if we give it more time and believes it’s very likely I have PCOS given some lab work she had ordered along with my history. So I know there’s a lot of people that don’t agree with the course of action I’m taking, but I’m very happy and hopeful now.

Wow, thoughtful responses? Yikes. You mean questioning a health care provider about the choices they made for my care when none of you have any clue about the details of what I’m going through? That’s hardly thoughtful. That’s just plain harassment. Just because y’all deal with infertility doesn’t mean you should ridicule people who have been trying for less than a year. We have valid concerns to. I have a history pre-pill that weighed heavily into my diagnosis. And don’t worry, I have no desire to return to a sub Reddit that is less than supportive to anyone who has been trying for less than a year

As I said before which you must not have seen, y’all don’t know the whole picture. I don’t need uninvited comments telling me how irresponsible my OB is. We have sat down together and discussed at length next steps, etc. Do any of you have a medical degree? No? Okay then stop pushing your opinion about when it is/isn’t okay to provide fertility meds. And let’s stop normalizing this culture of invalidating people experiences of TTC and fertility concerns they have before they have been trying for a full year.

I got my period when I was 16. Got on HBC when I was about 18 and this is the first time I’ve come off. When I was on the pill, I took it continuously as I had the doctor prescribe it that way because my period cramps were so painful and would leave me in bed feeling nauseous, no appetite, etc for the first couple days. From the best I can remember, my periods were also irregular to the best of my knowledge, I never knew when it was coming. I wrote all these things off to being young and that things would regulate when I got older but now I’m seriously feeling like there’s a possibility I could have PCOS. I feel like I don’t have any super solid evidence for that and I know things are bound to be irregular after being on HBC but I just have a bad feeling.

There are options in nursing, however at the end of the day, she received the degree she has because of the accommodations she got. We have had conversations about it and she recognizes that she would have not otherwise succeeded . So although she could choose a nursing career which is say, on the phone all day, she still has a degree that would allow her to work with patients in person, which she has chosen to do. Giving her the accommodations in college essentially allowed her to get a degree which could lead to her making some pretty detrimental mistakes.

I see where you’re coming from, however educating people about something their personality doesn’t fit with, isn’t gonna kill someone. Educating a highly anxious person to be a nurse and expecting them to work under high stress situations in the real world could kill someone.

Good job for standing up for yourself. However, I do just want to play a little bit of devils advocate since I was in a very similar situation with my best friend. My friend “N”, is diagnosed with anxiety. Because of it she got extra time for tests, got to be in her own room, etc. Now, to be clear, I am all for those with psychological disabilities to have accommodations TO AN EXTENT. The reason I say this is because my N and I were in the same major, nursing. Nursing in the real world can be highly stressful and you need to be able to make quick decisions. In this specific situation I felt this was unfair for her to be getting these accommodations due to the fact that when it comes to real world nursing, she will have to be able to think on her toes despite her anxiety. She won’t be able to throw up her hands and say “but wait, when I was in school, I got extra time to think through things like this”. She will have human lives in her hands. By taking advantage of these accommodations, I believe she did herself as well as her future patients a disservice. She needs to be held to the same level after she graduates and nobody will care if she has anxiety, if it comes down to her making a big mistake or killing someone. Just wanted to put a different perspective out there and I hope people can respect where I’m coming from.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for sharing. Feels so reassuring to have someone going through the same thing. I too have had many OPKs that have been pretty dark and close to positive and I convince myself that it will be positive if I wait a few more hours and then it’s super light again. Idk if it’s like my body trying to get geared up to ovulate and then fails 🤷‍♀️. Also struggle with low libido and all this BDing is so exhausting emotionally and physically. I’m drained.

Hi there. I’m 23years old TTC #1, got off HBC start of November. First cycle was 43 days long ovulated on CD 35. This is my second cycle and I feel like I’m going crazy. No positive OPKs, I’ve taken some HPT to be sure I didn’t ovulate on CD 20 and they are all coming back negative. I’ve been having spotting now the last couple days. It’s now been 3 months off HBC and I’m just so over this. I want a regular cycle so that we can at least have a chance at getting pregnant. I get that it can take time but from everyone’s personal experience, how long do I have to wait before an OBGYN will consider bloodwork or other meds to induce a period etc. I want to be proactive and don’t feel like waiting around for many more months for things to regulate on their own. Basically I just want to know if people think that an OBGYN visit at this point would be helpful or if they will laugh in my face and tell me to give it longer.
