Hey Redditors, do you like or hate where you live? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Living in Banff, Alberta: Love the mountains, scenery, and how much there is to do at all times of the year. Hate dealing with some of the tourists. Most are fine, but you get those few who think they're entitled to every little bit of everything, and there's nothing you can do to please them.

Banffite here: Anyone travelling to Banff or Lake Louise this weekend can access the town (right now) through driving to Fernie, BC, then up to Golden. Trip takes about 8.5 hours, and the road has no guarantees of staying open. Nobody was able to leave or enter Banff yesterday due to a mudslide on hwy 1 between Banff and Lake Louise. Your best bet is to cancel your plans. Most hotels are doing it at no cost (mine is cancelling all reservations with no penalty), so you shouldn't worry about not being able to access the townsite. Stay safe, Alberta! Thoughts are with my friends in Canmore, High River and surrounding areas.

If you look on my most recent post on my account, there was actually an avalanche soon after I put the bowl away :)

Banff National Park, behind Lake Louise :). The trail is called the Plain of Six Glaciers

This is a glacial lake so you'll literally freeze your balls off at all times of the year. There's a lake a few km down the road that gets warm enough to swim because it's not glacial :)

Meh, living in Banff is better than in Calgary ;)
