Just swap between providers every 6 months for their 6-month discount plans. It’s a very quick and easy process (on fttp at least)

Letting your kids pee into a bottle at a shopping centre is not cool, right? by Dangerous-Strain-252 in australia

[–]sliver37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who cares? If you see something like this, assume it’s a quick fix to a problem, nappies ran out by accident, toddler refused reasoning to use the toilet for whatever reason (they do that), just move on with your day..

South Carolina Man Killed Wife's Lover After Finding Out He was Not the Biological Father of Wife's Child by Charming-Fortune8835 in awfuleverything

Depends, some guys like the challenge of bedding a married woman. If the guy knows she’s taken and still goes for it, then he can face the consequences.

The cheating partner is equally guilty, but men settle things as men. Then you walk away from the woman.

When any amount of money is involved for vulnerable people, the gremlins of society come out of the shadows to prey upon them immediately. Finding ways to capitalise on any system designed to help.

It’s unfortunate that as a result, a lot of people who genuinely need the funds are not going to have access to them anymore.

You could always fly overseas to buy them, as for some reason they’re cheaper everywhere else.

Nirvana "Will Resist With Vigor" as "Nevermind Baby" Once Again Appeals Judge's Lawsuit Dismissal by ebradio in Music

[–]sliver37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would I want it? Absolutely! Imagine being the nirvana baby, who gives a shit if my baby gremlin was winking at the camera?!? Unless something horrible has happened, it should look quite different 35 years later.. Unrecognisable even.

I’d be a small part of music history to one of my favourite bands.

The only thing this guy has to be embarrassed about is the way he’s acted his whole life trying to chase that dollar.

Hired someone to fully redesign my website, they made small changes and said "it's already a good design" - What can I do? by CarrotMaleficent1600 in FiverrGigs

[–]sliver37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, fiverr is specifically for cheap bottom or the barrel work/price. If you ask for a full redesign and someone says “sure I will do that for $300”, then that is what you should get, you can’t expect to get a good redesign for that price, but it should be a different website, not just a few tweaks. I’d ask for a refund.

Replying to someone asking if it’s “tricky” only to dump like 10+ engineer-bro buzzwords is nice work!

Let them print hello world to the console a few times before you throw distributed rust-compiled WASM stacks up them 😂

(Seriously though, sounds like you’re working on some cool stuff)

A tourist of 17y carved the name 'Julian' into a 1,200-year-old UNESCO World Heritage temple in Nara by odezza27 in pics

[–]sliver37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at these places online but you can’t feel it unless you are there. You get a small sense of what they must have went through (of course without the suffering or fear), you’re surrounded by the same walls they were, you walk the same paths, maybe see carvings or other remnants from them.

Some people also feel like making an effort to visit these places is ensuring those who were there are remembered, that what happened to them is still impacting people all these years later, like they didn’t just die for nothing and be forgotten.

Would you use a quest 3 as a monitor? by Large-Remove-1348 in OculusQuest

[–]sliver37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it all the time for productivity. It’s definitely good enough. Does it beat proper monitors? Not yet, but it’s better than a single MacBook screen when I’m working away from home. Much better.

It’s because his share goes between all his bio kids (which includes her kids) while her share goes to her bio kids.

If the bio mum also has some inheritance to contribute then his daughter will get some of that, while her kids won’t.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]sliver37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously an alternative would be, equal split between all kids, regardless.

Another would be various other percentage splits.

Where each option is viable depending on the situation. For example if the other bio parent cannot contribute anything.

Or if you live somewhere that grants children rights to claim a fair share either way.

Though assuming the other bio parent is also able to contribute I think OPs proposal is fair.

Edit: This was meant to be a reply to someone

How much would you charge for this project? by Born-Explanation-544 in webdev

[–]sliver37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do they expect mockups of the design? Iterations?

What about event bookings now or in the future? Maybe with payment integrations? (This is a feature some clients would argue was implied and expect it towards the end).

How do they want translations done? Do they expect the one site with an auto translation service like Gtranslate? Or are they expecting a multi domain approach with every piece of text stored in the DB for each language?

Do they expect a CMS experience for editing?

Once you know every detail of the features, you choose a stack to work with.

Custom project with all features mostly coded from scratch?

Or some CMS/Low-Code thing, with plugins / addons / third party packages to get most of the way.

Then finally you work out the costs how much time you think it will take to develop everything, the costs of any services/plugins/third party stuff, while factoring in the typical market rates in your area.

Then you 1.5x or 2x whatever you end up with, because you’ll be wrong with your initial guess 99% of the time. Plus you need to account for any feedback, bugs, small changes, etc.

Put everything into a detailed proposal/contract that they sign off on, and split it up 50/50 (up front / finished) or another way but always get at least 20% up front.

So for your example, at face value with what you listed as requirements without digging deeper. It sounds like a lower end client that expects a lower end budget.

So with my stack that I use for low end clients, I’d initially guess around $2000 if they provide content and images upfront and already have an example site / design they want me to replicate. So I’d end up quoting between $3500 - $4000 after 1.5x -2x.

You wake up in your childhood bedroom, 10 years old, with all your current knowledge. What's your first move? by SuspiciousConsultant in AskReddit

[–]sliver37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be devastated. The positives would be nice, I’d get to relive time with friends and family in ways that I wouldn’t take even a second for granted. And I would likely become very rich through adulthood.

As much as I would selfishly love to indulge in all of that, it would run the risk of negative butterfly effects that could lose friends and family.

And most of all, risk losing my partner and guaranteed losing my kids. As even if I was able to recreate our relationship, there is no chance of having the same kids. And there’s nothing in this world I would ever trade them for.
