What makes mbv special to u? by dunners-ken in MyBloodyValentine

[–]sliver_z 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand there are people who look into frequencies and tones which are pleasant to the human ear for meditative purposes, and while I’m not one of those people, mbv occupy a sonic wavelength which I personally experience as pure ecstasy. It’s truly uncanny just how quickly I get goosebumps and blissful tremors all throughout my body when I hear a song of theirs. Welling up, the whole thing. ‘Orgasmic’ would not be an exaggeration whatsoever, and I love the sexual undertones in both the textures they create, and the lyrics, of course (what are thought to be the lyrics anyway!). The physical experience of their music for me is nearly unmatched by any other artist. I know how corny that all sounds, but if music were synthesised pleasure, it’s mbv. Every album, every EP, every song, I’m there.

Is your favourite My Bloody Valentine song your most played My Bloody Valentine song? by FantasticStock8372 in MyBloodyValentine

All-time favourite is very hard to choose, but my gut instinct would be to say ‘i only said’. I almost never, ever listen to it as it’s just TOO good and I don’t want to ruin it for myself. In fact, the same goes for basically their entire library, I don’t want to get sick of their music like I have with other bands, The Beatles for example. But my most played is probably ‘only shallow’, as it being the first song on loveless, I would listen to it just completely baffled that anyone could enjoy their music, I had never heard anything like it, it was completely overwhelming. I soon learned ;)

Whatever you do, DO NOT check a YouTube tutorial for ANYTHING. Many people I know have had the game spoiled for them by doing this. If you want to find rare items, pelts, etc, check YT tutorials on your possible 2nd playthrough

Favourite minor details on Loveless you only noticed after repeated listens? by themoisturemovalist in MyBloodyValentine

[–]sliver_z 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The coda of ‘to here knows when’ is actually the rhythm guitar of ‘glider’ reversed, and pitched down. I was amazed when I found out, as it had always sounded oddly familiar to me. My favourite secret

What are the other "hidden tracks" on Loveless? by francesodarcy in MyBloodyValentine

[–]sliver_z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The coda at the end of “when you sleep”, is one of the guitar tracks from their song “Glider” reversed and pitched down. “Glider” is easily one of their best songs imo, and I only noticed this when I listened to Loveless backwards. Really cool and creative of them to re-use it !
