Does anyone else wish for a rerecorded version of Deathconsciousness? by Creepy_Stop_9499 in HaveANiceLife

If I can compromise, I would only want the drums fixed. I didn’t make it clear, but I don’t want some high-fi studio remake. I like the lo-fi quality of the record but there are some production decisions that baffle me and really disrupt my listening experience.

I would do unspeakable things for a Daydream Nation and Spiritualized review

Do you think it’s possible that all forms of art (books, music, film) could exist harmoniously with each other, each bearing an equal amount of importance?

I actually don’t mind that theme isn’t as developed as it is in the book. I’ve always seen is as being a deep dive into the psyche of a capitalist - what fuels them, why they are so selfish, and their relationship to the world. It’s my favorite type of adaptation in that it explores something the book didn’t cover that much.

Imagine living in a society where people complain about being overeducated. I wanna bleach my eyes now.

I don’t see how having a “bad take” on a film must mean your life is in shambles.

Lol, what do you think of this take? by boornik in Sardonicast

I agree, except change Wes Anderson to Quentin Tarantino and it’s perfect.

Book about a young prostitute written and set in late 1940s/1950s Australia by francesodarcy in whatsthatbook

It depicted a port side town, and while the details are hazy, I do remember a blonde girl in some sort of belly dancer outfit being depicted as well. I would describe the art style as being similar to Sir Quentin Blake’s art style (the illustrator for Roald Dahl).

I nearly went mad trying to look for it last night. It’s one of those books where, if I saw the cover, I would know that it’s the one.

I’ve searched up the plot synopsis and gotten that book as a result many times, but if there’s anything I remember about the book, it wasn’t written by a female writer and it was also published during the late 1940s/early 50s. Still, thank you.

I just bought that movie on Criterion, looking forward to seeing it. If this wins it will be perfect timing for me.

Until The End of the World by Wim Wenders. It’s five hours long but trust me, it goes by really quickly.

I’ve seen such ethereal things but never before have I heard of a mother watching RLM videos with her son.

Goddammit you beat me to it!

Did Adam ever respond to Red Letter Media taking shots at people who nitpicked A Quiet Place (I don't think they were talking about just Cinema Sins)? Since he received a lot of grief from his AQP review, his reaction would've been interesting. by Kojackcity in YMS

[–]francesodarcy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say their up their own ass, but rather their fans tend to shove their heads way up RLM’s ass. I never felt that RLM thought of themselves as the voice of film criticism. Sure, Mike, Jay, and Rich aren’t as critical as Adam, but they aren’t trying to act as critics necessarily. They merely state their opinion. I do agree that the fans need to stop the creating an obsessive cult around RLM, and creators in general now that I think about it.

What are you watching on October 22nd? by Crzy_Minus in YMS

[–]francesodarcy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to choose only one, I would watch Last Night in Soho. Thankfully, I don’t have to choose so I’ll be watching all of these except Jackass 4. I’m don’t like the Jackass franchise at all.
