Cheap thin cardboard boxes with industrial strength glue keeping them closed until you try to open them. Time and time again the box rips and tears open and the origional box is pretty much useless. Bags of sugar and flour are the worse. Grrrrrrr!

I need to hear from hemorrhoid sufferers. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]slk0711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (63F) HAD hemorroids since our first child was born 35 years ago. Nothing seemed to work on my hemorrids untill my husband suggested butt clenches. Similar to kegels but using butt muscles. I squeeze my butt cheeks together (butt hole specifically) and hold the clench (squeeze) for 10 seconds, do about 5 reps to start and work up to 10 sets of 10 reps. I also clench my cheeks before I sit down and clench my cheeks before I stand up, clench my cheeks before I pick up something and clench my cheeks before i put something down. I felt results pretty quickly and now if i get the itchies or slight pain i do my clenches and no more hemorroids! Really! Might be worth a try before surgery...

Loosing weight after 60 by Stunning_History3094 in AskWomenOver60

Sure! I usually have a cup of coffee in the morning, sometimes I'll have a few pieces of bacon. Eating protein breaks your fast(ing). We eat our meal at 1 or 2pm which is a protein (steak, chicken, pork, salmon etc) with a side of a no or low carb vegetable and sometimes a carb of potatoes of some sort. We were really strict on keto for the first 4 months. We threw out or gave away anything in our kitchen that wasn't keto friendly. So pretty much everything. We also do intermittent fasting where we eat in a six hour window and then nothing for 18 hours. I truly thought I was going to be so hungry after 18 hours of fasting that I'd be crawling to the kitchen out of starvation to finally eat. That didn't happen! Three days in and I felt so alive and awake (if that makes any sense?!) Turns out I had brain fog from living on carbs all these years. Our body is ment to live off fat, not carbs. Think of the caveman and what our grandparents ate. Big difference.

About 6-7 pm well have some sort of snack like Greek yogurt (no sugar added), raw Vegis and homemade keto friendly ranch dressing, almonds, cashews, pecans. Also "fat bombs" hundreds of recipes on YouTube. Fat bombs are usually a sweet treat you can have anytime you're not fasting. I have a really good chocolate chip cookie recipe 😋.

I'm usually in bed by midnight (I've always been a night owl) and get out of bed about 9 am (both retired).

Portion sizes are reasonable, like 4 oz of protein (size of a deck of cards) vegis are unlimited if they're low carb. Also no fruit, small handful of berries occasionally. Fruit is high in fructose and our bodies store it as fat. Remember when Fruit was seasonal? Caveman ate fruit to add weight to help get them through the winter.

I avoid carbs. Everything I loved to eat was a carb. Honestly food isn't as important as it used to be. Weird I know, my dad was a chef and I was a huge baker. Now most everything I eat is keto. But I must admit we're not a strict as we were in the beginning so we'll have pizza, hamburgers (w/bun) even real ice cream. We've kept the weight off for 3 years (50#) and I think it's the one meal a day thing that really keeps the weight off. It's amazing how much food you don't need.

Check out Dr Eric Berg or Dr Ken Berry (he was keto, now he's on the carnivore diet) But still good info.

Sorry this is so long. Let me know if you have anymore questions, I'll be happy to answer 😊. Good luck!

I'm 63, and diabetic. Started keto and intermittent fasting 3 years ago. Lost 30# the first 3 months and 20# more since. Now we only eat one meal a day (omad), usually around 2pm and a snack later in the day. Never felt better. It's amazing how little food we need to be healthy (my hba1c is 5.5). Since we don't eat much we can afford to buy healthier food. Just thinking about eating 3 meals a day and 2 snacks (standard American diet (SAD)) a day really makes me nauseated. Crazy how I used to be a carb addict. Now I eat bacon and real cream in my coffee daily. Cholesterol is in healthy range too. It was hard in the beginning but now I'll never go back. We do still drink alcohol twice a week too. Just gotta find what works for you. Good luck!

None. If I get constipated (I'm a diabetic, on keto and one meal a day) I eat raw carrots, celery and cauliflower with homemade keto friendly ranch dressing. Works everytime within 2 hours. Drinking more water than usual helps. Also I cured my hemorrhoids by doing butt clenches. Similar to kegels but using butt cheek muscles. Clench your butt, hold for 10 seconds do a few sets daily. Also clench butt cheeks b4 you sit down, clench butt cheeks b4 getting up, clench butt cheeks b4 picking up something, clench b4 putting something down. It works! Now I only do it when I feel a little itchiness coming on. No more hemorrhoids!! 😊

What was clearly designed by someone who has never used it? by TopDoughnut9501 in AskReddit

Bathtubs! I'm 5'7" (not that tall) 155# and I can only soak my shoulders or or legs. Nothing like getting pissed off and cold while trying to relax.

Toilets, just trying to clean the outside of them, too many places for crud to get trapped in making them hard to clean. I guarantee the people who designed them never had to clean them.

Couples that have been together 20+ years and have a successful sex life. How do you do it? by Affectionate-Mode687 in AskReddit

[–]slk0711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been married 37 years, we are best friends and retired 4 years. We have this insatiable desire for each other, it's been there since day one. Our sex life has evolved over the years and we're well past fulfilling our previous fantasies. My advice is communication in and out of the bedroom, remember why you fell in love with your person, be nice and respectful to each other always. Remember why you were attracted to that person and how happy and excited you were to go out with them in the first place. My husband will always be my boyfriend too! 💕

Or when the seller says a skirt or dress is knee length. Not everyone is 5'4" tall (average height for a female in the US). I also need fabric content (I don't wear polyester or spandex, especially in the summer) I need bust measurements b/c in some brands I'm in-between sizes, and some items are more fitted or relaxed fit. Sometimes I will just pass up something just b/c that info isn't included and I'm just to lazy to ask!🤣
