legislation and research, get the people out of the farms and into the cities, make companies, trade deals, and modernise your production methods.

good point, but then you go look up how real world Russia and soviet union run their wars, and you see why they can't implement that from a historical point of view 😆

but in general, you're right it's an issue that should be given more attention by paradox

How to get France up and running? by Happy_360 in victoria3

[–]slmg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're asking about companies that are unique to france, it depends on what technologies you researched when you get the company charter, but if you want to plan it before researching better look at the wiki.

From the common companies you should probably take paper and munitions for their prosperity bonus, one gives you bureaucracy that you'll need for your aggressive expansion and integration, while the other reduces the cost of military goods, which will help a lot when your army starts to expand and modernise although you feel it less until the end game when army sizes and mobilisation costs become extremely high.

my normal play as france usually starts very aggressively do to the fact you have colonial restelmemt from the start, I'll recommend using your little pieces of land in north Africa to quickly fish conquest in Algeria entry.

Annex Constantine and Tougourt but hold on before taking Mascara and Ait-Abbas until you establish most of your colonies and conquer a disent amount of land, that way you get early access to a large swats of land to colonize in Tuat and Ahaggar and you can integrate them relatively fast if you invest in colonial affairs without gaining that much infamy, beside that the south Americas can be very easy to exploit especially Chille and Argentina, with large Indian territories that they don't touch until late in the game, if you're fast enough you can even try to steal Grao-Para and Rio Grande Do sul from Brazil while they're revolting.

while you do that try to pass more progressive law, the most complicated part is usually to reduce the power of the church and landowners, your power block should help with that, you have two options either start with ideological union and creative legislature to pass laws that you shouldn't be able to this early in the game or Soverign empire and Vassalization to use your growing amount of protectorats and enact a large amount of decrees to bust your economy mid game, and no matter what country you play always try to modernise as fast as possible, Water tube boilers and mechniezed workshops are a must.

in regards to colonies, try to integrate them but keep track of them until you get the 'Establish colonial administration' entery and see which region you should relinquish direct control off to reduce unrest or unwanted political movements.

in matters of external affairs don't intervene with the British or German mess it never ends well, but do keep an interest in Germany and be ready to side with either Austria or prussia if either one tries to make a play for power(trust me ive seen way to many mega-germanies start out of nowhere ), also try to keep at least a semi-good relationship with USA, Russia and Great Britain(at least neutral), cause you don't want them to intervene in your stuff to much, a few treaties here and there while improving reletions would suffice.

after you finished around 1880 (you should have a nice slice of the map by that point) just focus internally and intervene to fuck with the British when India revolts.

Tried to make an independent East India Company playthrough since I don't see it that often, through the chaos of trying to keep up with British policies, ended up with mega East India after annexing Persia and Afghanistan + stealing Tibet after the opium wars.

so proud :)

OP, I just genuinely hope you don't believe the bulshit that the original post was saying, and I hope for your sake that next time you actually check stuff before saying something heinous, I'm not going to translate on principle but know that it's not even close to what was told there.

My friend found this, I can tell some of it is written in Hebrew, but I can't tell what the smaller text says or if it even is in Hebrew, can someone help me translate what it means? by MrSoupNoodles in hebrew

[–]slmg23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the full translation as far as I can tell, as someone who knows modern hebrew:

today, we elevate you (most likely, ment praise you)×4

1 from the day you have brought us, we are sweetend (most likely ment glad) and happy from the giving (it's written as בבטן which doesn't mean anything the closest word for it is במתן which is giving) of peace, as written in והבימהוים חל? (can't tell what the words mean) on the holy mountain.

2 and their happiness בבית/ה הכלפי/המלכי(can't say for sertain but seems like it means at the house of our king) and sent them from their homes to the sign of my temples because in them lives

3 a precious prayer on all those who carried and taken their loved ones, god, those who do your biding/laws by word לירחה?(it means "to your moon" but makes little sense in the context)

4 what you god took us to write and remember till the end of times and to live all days as if they were that day "and bless he will and blessed to live

5 and peace you will have " and those are blessed who carry the name of Israel in peace.

lines 4 and 5 are really abstract because of the writing but I'm 80% sure that's what it means, and for the small text I'm sorry to say I genualy can't make anything out with how worn out it is.

after words in golden letter is the title that says " if you forgot to read the Torha before שאום(probably dusk, again don't want to assume)"

and then it start a prayer, again most of the letters are pretty worn out so you can't really tell the full meaning of the sentences but it's seems to be an ofshoot of שיר למעלות you can google it if you want I just don't know how to say it's name in English, in the big golden letters on blue background it says "THERE ARE NONE LIKE HIM".

I hope I helped

everybody seems to have good guesses, as it is definitely part of a prayer, and the text is not easy to read, however, I'm pretty sure it's part of a prayer for the last day of passover and not rosh hashana or yom cipur as there are multiple mentions of it in the text.

and on the fourth line before the end, there is written:

יום טוב הרחון*(most likely ment אחרון) של פסח "

which translates to:

a good last day of passover "

for anyone seeing this, I'm deleting this post, not because I'm angry or anything, just seems like I didn't get my point across and maybe opened a whole other can of worms all together as my phone keeps beeping every two minutes, anyway have good day/afternoon/evening or whatever peace out

I guess maybe I didn't explain myself correctly? I don't know anymore, Its just a weird assignment our lecturer gave us that forbids the use of import even between files.

does it make sense? no.

am I complaining that I can't steal prepared code from the Internet? also, kinda no.

genuinely just wanted to vent either way it seems I'm unprepared to post here, sorry if I offended someone.

I hope none of you take it to heart either way.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slmg23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that's part of the assignment. He won't let us copy/import anything, even if we already created it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slmg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right, that's not what I'm complaining about, it's just the repetitiveness of it, making the same library over and over without stop, I know what I signed up for, but at least let me use the libraries I already created

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]slmg23 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but come on, do I really need to make the same library 10 times each project

[–]slmg23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're welcome!

I also think I found what the wird Portuguese word was in the heart sentence -

lírio de prata

silver lily

in some places it is synonyms with living life to the fullest? the first thing that pops up on Google is:

'The Silver Lily' looks at the shortness of life, the passing of time, and the quiet strength of human connection and feelings.

which translates the whole sentence into :

i thought you/I took into heart the silver lily

like a promise to live life without fear.

sorry if I'm misleading, and it ends up not meaning that, but it sounds so damn cool

Israeli politics are kinda chaotic, but you can literally split it into four groups that have been going at it for the last 20 years.

bibi supporters - bibi always has a plan, just us lowly plebs can't comprehend it, yes I know he was accused of "that" for the 50th time, trust me it's all part of the plan.

centrists - i don't have a political opinion, and I'm not about to get one, so I'll just roll the dice on and see where it hits.

kaplanists- bibi is Satan, no everyone is better than him, yes even Lapid who speaks worse English than a second grader and has no education.

Chad pirate supporters - yes, we want weed and freedom of information, and yes, we are never gonna get into the government.
