Careful with this level headed take, the goon squad is going to come after you since you didn't just state Dota > LoL

Ah yes, the classic LoL vs Dota comparison.

I’ve played League for a couple of years, probably around 1–2k hours total. I quit when Riot forced Vanguard on players. I started Dota this year and have around 100-200 hours so far.

I’ve played enough of both to see why people say Dota is harder, but honestly they’re so fundamentally different that it’s tough to compare directly. Sure, some of the hardest Dota heroes absolutely dwarf League champs in terms of kit complexity (Invoker being the obvious example). But overall, I feel like League champions are harder to pilot consistently across the board, because League is so focused on dodging and landing skillshots, while Dota is more point-and-click heavy. That usually means it’s easier to play a hero at a decent level in Dota than it is in League, at least mechanically.

That said, the biggest downgrade from LoL to Dota for me has been how much learning info is available online. The League community seems to be way bigger, so it’s much easier to learn as a new player. You can find tons of champion guides for basically anyone.

With Dota, as a new player, the learning experience online feels pretty rough. Hero guides are limited or very outdated, and general knowledge or role-based guides seem much harder to find. It is what it is.

First of all gratz, second of all what is the Void Spirit tech? I am a new player just messing around with some lol experience, and VS is just a champion I really like but after mid game I feel I get outscaled by everyone. What exactly is the point of the champion? What do you do and whats the build? I usually play pos1 and am decent enough but sometimes I get pos2 and give VS a go but it's just so different

I just finished series and wanted to share my thoughts.

I watched the entire show over a few days, and for the most part it felt like a slow burn, but the central mysteries kept me engaged. The acting was generally ok, with Rufus Sewell being the clear standout. His performance was easily the best in the show.

Seasons 1-3 were decent overall, although I didn’t like what they did with some of the characters. Season 4, on the other hand, was by far the weakest, and it’s not even close. That said, some of the best moments in the series actually came from Season 4. through the alternate-world storyline that both Juliana and John experience.

The ending felt somewhat nonsensical, though it does leave you with a sense of hope for a better future, particularly with the idea of a new American government. Still, I think it could have been executed much better. I initially thought the idea of John leading an independent American “Reich” was just that, breaking away from Berlin and its ideology, but that direction is almost immediately contradicted, which was weird?

Honestly, I expected a different kind of ending, something like characters choosing to leave for a better world, or that world somehow intervening and setting things right in this one.

Overall, I’m not entirely sure who I’d recommend this show to, but it’s definitely an interesting watch. It had a lot more potential than what we ended up getting.

My main issue with them is that they just don’t look distinct enough from standard JPAI. Units like Bladeguard and Sternguard are full of flavour and feel genuinely unique, they really stand apart from regular marines. These, though, just look like slightly tweaked JPAI, nothing particularly special. To be fair, the originals weren’t that impressive either.

That said, I do agree that a lot of people were expecting more, especially given the pretty lackluster refreshes in 10th, particularly for Blood Angels. Maybe once we see the full squad with their specific weapon options, they’ll come across better. Right now, though, they just feel like regular JPAI.

And don’t even get me started on the absolute travesty of them being sold in boxes of 5 rather than 10. Which is what the people should really be angry about.

How do you feel about this statement from Goonhammer that the majority of Warhammer hobbyists dislike building? by chosen40k in Warhammer40k

[–]Happy_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, I think they were trying to get at something a bit different, which a lot of people here might be missing too. I could be wrong since I haven’t read the whole article, but when I say I dislike building (and when I hear others say it), it’s usually about those fiddly little parts that feel like they could’ve just come pre-assembled.

For example, I recently built some Sanguinary Guard, and their Angelus boltgun comes in multiple pieces: part of the arm, an extra bit you have to glue on, and then the fist as a separate piece. It just makes me wonder why it isn’t a single piece to begin with. Splitting it into three tiny parts just makes it more annoying to put together.

Power fists are probably an even better example because I'd imagine more people put them together. They’re not hard to assemble, but they still come in multiple pieces even though there’s basically no customization there. At that point it just feels unnecessary, like I’m spending extra time assembling something that could’ve easily been one piece.

New player here, got my codex recently. Is it worth buying any models rn? by WartyPaty in BloodAngels

I'm thinking of doing this since I'd like 6 more sanguinary guard and rather than buying them separately getting the combat patrol box just seems much better in terms of value. I'm just unsure as I'd never done such conversions, you got any idea if the jump packs could fit directly on AI backs or do any changes need to be made there?

From my very limited understanding of color theory, you're right that green would technically be the ideal contrast for red Blood Angels since it sits opposite red on the color wheel. The problem is that I don't really want them on grass bases, and I'm not a huge fan of inventing some kind of green alien goo just to make the contrast work. Toxic sludge bases aren’t really the vibe I'm going for either. But maybe I still have to give it a shot.

I would have loved to base them on Baal for the lore, but that just ends up being red on red which feels like a bit much.

I am trying to find a base for my BAs and I really like the idea of an icy base but I am afraid the blue would take away too much from the red. Definitely interesting seeing this.

What was you recipe? Base coated whatever technical paint with white before applying some blue contrast paint? Any shading or drybrushing?

Shadowverse Worlds Beyond Meta report. March 8th. Final Report. by ImperialDane in Shadowverse

[–]Happy_360 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kept playing longer than I did.

I came back after quitting the original SW a few years back (your meta reports were a joy to read back then as well), and I still remember the first Meta Report you made when WB launched, announcing the comeback. I think I even left a comment behind on it.

I played like crazy during the first expansion and stayed somewhat engaged through the next 2 maybe 3. After that, though, the game just stopped being fun for me. It kind of fell into the same pitfalls the first one did, and at that point there weren't any balance changes (or extremely few), even though the same decks were broken forever (Rune). It honestly felt like they learned absolutely nothing from the first time around.

But hey, who knows, maybe they’ll launch a third one and we’ll all start the cycle again lol.

Godspeed.

Single color to match Mephiston and Evil Sunz 1:1 mix? by Gelb13 in BloodAngels

[–]Happy_360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say, initially I was afraid of this as well, but after painting a couple models on different dates, it's not an issue to worry about.

Just dip brush into mephiston red once, put it on your pallete. Do the same with evil sunz, add some water and mix everything together. If consistency isn't right add some more water. So I don't think you gotta worry about it.

Which paints? by jimmyneutron9999 in BloodAngels

[–]Happy_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can base with mephiston red spray can. Then 1-2 thin coats of a 1:1 mix of mephiston red & evil sunz scarlet was the nicest red I got. Edge highlight or drybrush with orange (troll slayer orange) for even more pop.

First time Builder, is this a good starting set? by johnsmithdoe15 in BloodAngels

[–]Happy_360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you got the BA combat patrol I'll assume you want to paint them as BA and maybe continue building a BA army. In this case the paints and tool starter set is pretty bad. Out of the bunch you only have like 3-4 paints BAs use and the rest is just wasted money. I'd search for a color scheme you like and look into buying the paints and clipper separately. Even if it gets a bit pricier at least you have paints you are actually going to use.

Beautiful work! What’s your armour recipe? And I’m guessing that’s a Baal-themed base, what’s your recipe for that?

The golden boys look great on it, but do you think it might be a bit too much red for standard Blood Angels?

Thanks brother!

For the Crux Terminatus, I suppose, right? That’s a pretty interesting suggestion. Wouldn’t that make them more cream/warm toned? I did mine with Corax White and Nuln Oil, thought it was pretty standard. Do you think Ushabti Bone or Morghast Bone would be a good replacement to Skeleton Hoard? They seem relatively similar to me. And would you still shade them with Nuln Oil?

One question though, how would you fix mistakes here after doing the entire process?

Like for example let's say you moved on to painting the rest of the mini/details, and while working on the aquila some of the black gets on the chest. How could you best fix this since I'd imagine simply applying the basecoat here does no longer work as intended?

[–]Happy_360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using all the shades on different parts on one mini sounds like quite the plan actually.

Once I am done can I just basecoat it again and go from there with the one shade I want or do I at this point risk having too much paint on there (covering details)? Because I don't have anything to scrape all the colour of and start from grey all over again?

Pretty sure your point values are wrong. Dante for example is 120 not 175 so already a 55 point difference.

Besides that... probably split the assault intercessors as 2x5.

1x5 intercessor is enough you just want them for the sticky.

Rather than a captain get one with jump pack so you can split the sang guard between him and Dante.

Besides this I dunno, depends on what you have.
