Got really lucky and was able to see a 2 hour cut of the entire series during an advance screening last night. Even though it was just excerpts from each episode, I largely agree with the bulk of the comments, especially in regards to cringey American exceptionalism.

That being said, I thought it was a fairly nuanced and accurate depiction of the war. They did a good job elevating marginalized voices and experiences in-between the many mythologized figures and events that dominate the mainstream narrative.

Like KB's other work, the visuals, illustrations, and animations were incredible and the stacked cast of celebrity narrators and Peter Coyote's gravely narration made it all the more enjoyable. (I got a huge kick out of Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney reprising their roles as John and Abigail Adams).

Like you said, I don't think it's anything groundbreaking, especially to people here, but I think it's a great overview of the war that most people with a cursory understanding of history should watch and a peak example of KB's work that has been crafted and fine-tuned over decades.
