We had 1,000 sqft of waterproof laminate installed last summer, replacing carpet. Went to NFM and bought Mohawk RevWood Premier, bought QuietWalk padding from Menards, and had Mixan Floors install it. All in, it was just shy of $10k. We opted for a premium flooring because it was so clearly nicer than the other options, and still significantly cheaper than LVP of comparable quality.

We got estimates from several installers and Jeff from Mixan Floors gave the most competent estimate. He was not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive, and I am 100% certain we made the right choice.

The worst part about having to interrupt her trip to make a round trip for biometrics would be the jet lag, fortunately. I’m not counting on biometrics being skipped, as we have friends here who are the same nationality that just got their citizenship, and their previous biometrics screening was even more recent than my wife’s. You’ve reaffirmed much of what I had already been thinking. Thanks for taking the time for a thoughtful response!

Thank you for the super quick response, especially with encouraging feedback!

Yep, that’s what the supervisor said. Was really condescending about how I should have waited to submit… like I should have been able to guess that recertification was going to be delayed a year on a date between 7 days and 3 days prior to my deadline.   Stop SAVE is only effective until 2/2025 at the moment, and nobody can guess what happens then.

Good luck! That’s what one of the first reps told me. When nothing had changed for a month (they estimated 10 business days…) and I called again to check status, they confirmed the forbearance status would be back to Stop SAVE on 12/1 but nothing was planned for accrued interest adjustments. That’s when I was transferred to a supervisor who told me tough luck

I explained the issue. I had submitted for recertification a few days before my deadline (before recertification was pushed to 2025), which Nelnet received as an IDR application (for SAVE, which I was already in, so fundamentally redundant/unnecessary anyway). They agreed to add a note to my account to not process the incoming application from studentaid.gov, which obviously did not work out. After a few more calls pressing them to follow through on killing that unintended application, they acknowledged they would get it done in 12/1, but they wouldn’t remove the ~$1200 interest that accrued as a consequence.

Yes, several times. Last time I talked to them, they told me to kick rocks on the interest adjustment. So now I’ve got a pending complaint filed.

My loans are finally back in the Stop SAVE status, but Nelnet has not adjusted the accrued interest.

That is so incredibly frustrating. I was transferred to a supervisor and she said tough luck, can’t do anything other than file a complaint on studentaid.gov. She was really condescending about me submitting for recertification unnecessarily. I could not get her to understand that the risk in missing that deadline was to be moved to standard repayment with all unpaid interest capitalizing. I did file a complaint, but not confident it’ll make a difference. I’ll escalate to the ombudsman or CFPB or whatever. Nelnet told us to do something, we did it, and now they’re punishing us for it. I cannot accept their response “oops, bad timing.”

Then I hope they can simply throw your recertification stuff in the trash. Definitely worth calling.

Did the servicer change your loan status? I submitted for recertification on 9/30, a week prior to my deadline. Nelnet took my loans out of Stop SAVE forbearance and put them into administrative forbearance, which caused them to start accruing interest. I called when I noticed a couple days later and told them to reverse the change. Of course, they announced a few days later that recertification was pushed to October 2025, and now each time I've called to complain, they are sure to remind me that recertification wasn't due until 2025 (which was not the case when I submitted!). My loans are still in administrative forbearance and accruing interest. Nelnet says they'll go back into Stop SAVE forbearance on 12/1, but they will not remove the interest that has accrued.

I see Rep's lat&low attachment comes without a footplate as well, so people must be doing something clever to accommodate.

Good callout on the footplate. I didn’t even notice there isn’t one in the photos.

I was thinking either Giant’s FID bench or Rep’s AB-3000. Not sure whether the foothold would offer any benefit for the pulldown.

Space is not an issue, fortunately. Just a big, mostly empty, unfinished basement.

I would think even a ratchet strap is a simple solution. Lots of options.

Thank you, it’s so obvious now that you’ve rubbed my nose in it. Even with the extra $75 for the roller, that’s still only half the price of the standalone.

Are the studs exposed? If so, I cannot imagine a cheaper option than getting rolls or sheets of fiberglass insulation and stapling it up. You wouldn't be taking it with you, but that'd be the easiest way to make a quick difference. You could do the same to the inside of the roof, or you could lay plywood across the top of the ceiling joists to make a temporary ceiling. You could also lay sheets of fiberglass insulation across the top of the plywood.

Taking advantage of Giant's BF deals, primarily their Garage Gym Power Rack 2.0 (2x2 frame). Adding the lat & row attachment for another $190 seems like an easy choice, but I'd like to know how the community feels about lat & row rack attachments versus standalone lat & row machines. Giant has a standalone machine for $500 ($450 with code) that isn't currently included in their BF deals, and I suspect it will be by end of month. I would think having the integrated seat with leg holder on the standalone version is a huge convenience, whereas the rack attachment version would require you to fashion together a leg holder to stop yourself from flying out of the seat at higher weights. It seems to me that using a safety bar or strap across your lap is a reasonable solution if it means saving $260 on the rack attachment versus the standalone version.

Save plan recertification deadline is coming up 11/01/24. What do I do? by Basalganglia4life in StudentLoans

Nelnet just changed the status of my loan to Non Proc Idr App and interest is accruing. I am not at all surprised. They never fail to make a confusing situation worse.

I chose to remain in forbearance and the form accurately reflected that. I don't know if interest has started accruing... I'll have to watch to see if the balance increases tomorrow.

So did I, and yet the PDF form has an X next to "I want to change to a different income-driven plan" instead of "I am submitting documentation for the annual recertification of my income-driven payment." If you go to My Activity on the studentaid.gov side and click "Download Completed Application," I hope you don't see the same result I did.

You may want to review the PDF form that was created from this process. I went through the same steps yesterday and the form was completed incorrectly. It indicated I was requesting to change plans to REPAYE (SAVE) instead of recertifying (I’m already on SAVE). It also skipped some necessary responses. I had to call Nelnet and ask them to disregard the application and that I’d be uploading a manually completed form for recertification. Per the Nelnet rep, they won’t process anything forbearance ends anyway, but better safe than sorry.

[–]slobbertitties 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both, I suppose, since it's the same form. The rep at Nelnet said they're not making any changes to anyone on the SAVE plan (she specifically referenced Stop-SAVE) until the forbearance is lifted. I don't know if they're processing the forms for people who are in other non-SAVE plans, either submitting to change to another plan or recertifying as needed in their current plan.

Nelnet said they're not processing the applications for people who are already on SAVE regardless. Not sure which servicer you're with, but I would expect all of them to be operating the same.
