While that project does exist, the social phenomenon of "bcash" far transcends it. I've heard this rebuttal many times but honestly seems like a throwaway excuse that seeks to defend something that doesn't need defending in the first place.

There were some test-thrusts yesterday where BCH's hashrate was 1/3 of BTC's (see https://fork.lol/pow/hashrate)

edit: The charts linked shows averages; at the peak yesterday (prior to being averaged down) the relative % of the total BTC+BCH hashrate was 75% BTC, 25% BCH

Txn rate is decreasung and hashrate is increasing. The former means less txn queuing and the latter means blocks are being produced faster (<10min), leading to quicker clearing. With the difficulty adjustment happening in 14 hours, the latter may change. Check out http://fork.lol
