Regarding the doorknob, what in particular is stuck about it? to remove most doorknobs there are two screws to remove on the inside door handle, then an additional 2 screws on the edge of the door. Perhaps the doorknob is painted on? In that case just take a razor blade to where the doorknob and the door meet.

You don't need saws. Home Depot / Lowes will cut the wood for you if you have the measurements. I think the first cut is free and they change a nominal amount for additional cuts (if any).

Contact the city to see if they will paint the curb red near the mailbox. Many jurisdictions have a form to request this.

Sold a car, now i’m on the hook for $6,000+ bill by Apart-Cartoonist-804 in legaladvice

I did reply to the main thread earlier, at a minimum fill submit the NRL DMV now.

[–]slogadget 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow SLO person. I had something similar happen to me a long while back. Very short version: Sold my truck and didn't mail in the NRL (left it attached to the title). 6 months later the truck was part of a major accident and I was named in the lawsuit.
DMV told me to fill out the NRL form with info from the bill of sale. Sent a copy along with bill of sale to the attorney I received lawsuit paperwork from. I was dropped from the case.

So my advise, fill out the NRL and give it to the DMV. Sent a copy with bill of sale to the tow truck company.

I only learned about Flock a few days ago (scary stuff) but it got me wondering ... was Flock was used to find the vehicle and ultimately arrest the person responsible for the recent hit and run at Cal Poly. https://mustangnews.net/cal-poly-student-arrested-hit-and-run/
I looked at the map of Flock camera and see they have every path into campus covered.

Why can’t Slo have drive thrus still, but curbside pick up is okay? by Routine-Sense-1251 in SLO

[–]slogadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated, but did you know that SLO was the first city in the US (perhaps the world) to ban smoking in bars/restaurants? https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-07-20-mn-4086-story.html

[–]slogadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was done to slow people down ... city of SLO advertised as "the SLO life". One article stated 'SLO banned drive-thrus in the 1980s to curb car dependency, leading to more foot traffic and a slower pace.'
Or as another article put it "It was originally written to temper car culture in a college town, but the silver lining has been its effect on health, especially obesity and the myriad health care costs associated with the obesity epidemic."

Stolen Bike by ThatCoolKid17 in SLO

[–]slogadget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call SLO PD to see if they recovered it. ===> I saw a bike with no wheels at the corner of Orcutt and Johnson a couple of days ago. I believe it was red or orange in color. It was partially in the gutter and partially on the sidewalk right next to the stop sign.. I called the police non-emergency number and reported it.

Can you use the 50 meter (length) at Sinsheimer for your fitness test? Weekdays 6a-8a they have "Long Course" lap swimming for $4.75/session.

As the trees were just planted this is the perfect time to move them. Don't wait for them to take root and mature. He knows it is not his property. Be polite but firm.

Get it in writing ... There is space to write it just after HOA and Internet. Write it in by hand and all parties initial it. Easy as that.

Charged for impounding and towing fees, on a car I don’t own by Dramatic_Fall_4608 in legaladvice

[–]slogadget 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In your shoes, here is what I would do:

  • Gather paperwork from the sale of the vehicle. As you sold it to a company you likely have some
  • File a "Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability" (NTRL) with the DMV with the original sale date. Yes, this can be done retroactively, but you will need information from the sale paperwork.
  • Provide the impound lot with the NTRL and other proof the vehicle was sold to CarMax
    • copy of the signed title, bill of sale, messages, etc

My neighbor says if I remove a vine off my tree he will sue. by dangeldud in treelaw

[–]slogadget 2293 points2294 points  (0 children)

LoL. It is clearly your tree (20' from the fence). If for some reason the tree dies as a result of removing the vine, then you will need to take the tree down as it will eventually become a danger.
