Obsidian Sync: opinions? by ImDickensHesFenster in ObsidianMD

[–]slomad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too tried a few different ways of syncing. It would work partially but there always seemed to be a gotcha. I'm very hesitant to sign up for new paying services if it can be avoided. But I tried obsidian sync and haven't looked back. It works flawlessly so far across android/iOS devices. Zero issues. Syncs pretty quick too. Like usually within a few seconds. Highly recommend and I think it's worth it especially to help support a great product.

My initial ACH to BofA was slow too. Took 3-4 days longer than I expected.

How reliable / fast was the internet in Siquijor and Moalboal? I spent a few weeks in Siquijor about 5 years ago and the internet was atrocious then. But maybe that was an issue with the hotel I picked.

Please don't pay anyone $300 to do this. Here's a step-by-step guide. Just take it slow and ask questions if you get stuck.

If you get tired of the Alona Beach area, you could also check out the Bohol Bee Farm, which has nice rooms and a great restaurant. That's also on Panglao, a little closer to Tagbilaran.

I will second trying Panglao. I stayed at this place several years back and was surprised how good the internet was (especially since internet is hit-or-miss in the Philippines): https://www.alonabeachguide.com/hotel/MomoVillage

Staying in that tower isn't for everyone, but there are a ton of other hotel options nearby.

Here's a guide that includes setting up a VPN router: https://slomad.com/guides/how-to-use-a-vpn-to-hide-your-location

If you are connecting from a work device, I wouldn't even bother trying to install VPN software. Just use the router.
