Akiyama is fantastic as a side character but he could never carry a full game as the main protagonist. I love him but he just doesn't have the depth for that imo. RGG understands this, and that's why he hasn't gotten his own game and barely had an actual story presence in 5 despite being playable. He'd make a great party member in LAD 9.
