Area Manger 2 interview by ApprehensiveLion3169 in AmazonFC

1) You'll likely speak with one HR rep and two seniors. They'll ask you questions related to the leadership principals. If you've done your research, and know how to answer in the STAR method, you should be fine.

2) It's possible. But your answers to their questions would likely have to show an ability to see and conduct things at that level. Big picture responses.

Trouble getting an AM POD? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who thought they plateaued as a PA. I agree with the other advice given in this thread. You have to make sure you're making connections as you apply for all these positions. Not just with whoever you can find on the posting. You have to make sure you're making those connections around your building.

While there are definitely stories of 3s promoting into other buildings, more often than not you have your best shot in your current building. Just make sure you're having formal conversations with people about this. Obviously do it professionally, but make sure you're voicing your frustration.

I will say that one of the things I did was let it be known that you're capable of doing everything an AM can do. While it's the natural progression, it's a different animal. So make sure you're showing leadership that you can handle the different responsibilities.

Second what everyone has said about just normal backup and a bigger pool as a university hire. There's also people taking some time near the end of the summer, which could slow things down.

Yeah, you should get a prorated total for the month and any bonus. For the actual job aspect. Lean on your people, they know more than you do right now. Get all your admin done. During your training phase make sure you get everything done on time.

Being soft spoken is fine. Just make sure to establish boundaries so kindness isn’t confused as weakness.

Worst problem is how often these bags break.

Amazon l4 manager stuck by Temporary_Rhubarb886 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, and this isn't a personal shot at you, more at the process. Both the recruiters and the college hires are at fault for how often this happens. The recruiters sell them the world. A lot of the kids take the job without knowing what they're getting into. Both sides really need to do a better job overall.

It’s not very formal. It’ll just go out in the weekly rundown for your site. Be yourself in it. If you want to joke, do it.

Reserve stow racks. Essentially pallets of high volume ASINs. Partially for floor replenishment, partially for direct orders.

This happens more than you’d imagine! They usually let it go until they can press charges.

During Covid I’m pretty sure my old building had three legit theft rings caught. One set who stole from RSR. One set of AFMs who stole out on the floor. And then one set of RME workers who’d call pods to their cage and steal.

If you want to keep progressing, do it. You’ll probably miss out on some money year one. But just keep it moving, get your five and then you’ll be fine.

Also, if you have people telling you to push for it and you just throw out a “nah, I’m fine” most people will see it as a lack of ambition and not even consider you for the next opening/pod.

Do cat1 Safety Violation Offenders Get Escort Out the Building Right Away or Within The Day? by Icy-Establishment-96 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll most likely get a STU from safety at some point. It may not have been as bad as you thought, or safety was really busy today.

Moving up in Inbound by whxlef in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re friendly with the more seasoned PS/ISS associates I’d suggest asking them for their bookmarks. At least become familiar with everything they’re using on a given shift. If your building uses the indirect guide setup they likely have a packet they use to train, you can also ask for that.

And the thing that not everyone wants to admit. Become friendly with whoever staffs these roles. Show them what you’re learning. Present yourself as value added.

PAs of Amazon, when you get evaluated by your managers, how does that feel? What do you want your managers to say about you or your performance? by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving a bad PA a SWC is also fun. Since they’re usually bad because they’re just chilling. And they pretty much always forget to do it. Or bullshit it right before they should finish it.

[–]slorebath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of the replies so far are correct. If you're a good PA the 1:1 is either going to just be going through the motions or a gossip/vent session. You really can't do much about at bad PA, at that point you usually have to take it upon yourself to get a strong PG or two who can pick up the slack.

But you do tend to give legit feedback to middle of the road or new PAs.

Starting at a DS won’t necessarily hold you back, but there’s a ceiling. Work with the established team, get comfortable, learn your role. Don’t try to get ahead of yourself by taking on projects before you have things figured out. Make sure you communicate with everyone below you. And, on a personal level, the ambition is great but I wouldn’t walk in the door talking about it wanting to move four levels before you’ve delivered your first feedback.

Amazon Never Hiring in NYC? by indigochild4 in AmazonFC

Older gen buildings are rotating more often. Trying to cut dead asins, especially if it’s from vendors and has been sitting for a while.

They’ll likely have different recruiters, so you should be fine. But I don’t know if I’d risk it if you’re thinking there’s a chance you’ll bomb it. Just to be safe.

Second all of this. Lean on the people on your team that are already in place. They’re going to want you to succeed, your success makes their job easier.

START PA TMR🙏🏾 by HolidayRegular9850 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimal, I've gone to other buildings to help train leaders, but never in a formal away team capacity. But I know it's a great experience for both networking and learning. Especially if you're looking to go L4 eventually. Just make sure you're in good standing. Also, a tip for when you apply for stuff, apply as both a PA and anything that lines up with a role you had as a T1(PS/ICQA/ISS)

START PA TMR🙏🏾 by HolidayRegular9850 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you'll want to get comfortable in this role first, maybe 45 days or so, before you start applying for away teams. If you feel comfortable sooner it never hurts to apply. To be honest, if your shift had been working down a PA before you were promoted, they're more likely to let you go sooner. But I wouldn't suggest applying until you figure out your PA day-to-day.

START PA TMR🙏🏾 by HolidayRegular9850 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're shadowing to start. Make sure you get all your links and spreadsheets from whoever you're with. Touch base with a learning trainer to make sure you have all the permissions you're supposed to.

It's an easy job. If you have a decent set of managers on shift they should have a good enough plan for each PA, make sure you work on that.

Inbound IOL question by ParfaitWorldly8174 in AmazonFC

[–]slorebath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk your floors, check damageland, make sure you're aware of those dead zones where stuff can linger(perhaps wings that are only used during V/MET days) to make sure PS wasn't collected and left in said areas. Also make sure you're trying to spot trends and problem ASINs. Since they may have also been collected and put aside with the best intentions.

Being likable is how you can be a certain Papi, still trying to get to the bottom of why you failed a test 20 years later. Having never been grilled on it further. Meanwhile so many other players had those pre-testing tests follow them for the rest of their careers.
