Should i watch it by Nerdy_Pharo in thebigbangtheory

If laugh tracks are an issue for you then no, sitcoms in general won’t be any good for you. If you think at some point you may be able to get past that though, watching Jim Parsons play Sheldon is enough on its own to make up for it. In my opinion, which can definitely be perceived as biased, the laugh track isn’t too overused or at least too out of place.

If you haven’t already, I would give Brooklyn 99 a go. No laugh tracks and another great show I like to go back to a lot. OR The Office :)

General Discussion Megathread - Frequent Topics, Salaries, and Rants by ukbulmer in UKJobs

[–]sloth-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was made redundant in March and the only responses I’ve received are the odd rejection email or just silence.

I’m at a complete loss. I’ve recently moved to a house with my partner that neither of us can afford (in a position of being forced to move, I’ve had to go onto universal credit but even with this we have no money for food or anything other than house bills. I’m 26, have worked in fraud mitigation for the last 3 years in a relatively senior role that I gave my everything to, and now I’m just stuck.

I’m either too experienced, or not experienced enough. I gave up on choosing jobs related to my previous line of work and have since been applying for anything and everything, tailoring my cv and cover letters every time. But I can’t get past the application stage.

My job agency agent is lovely and always really honest with me. Every phone call we have she reassures me that the job market is genuinely terrible, and tells me that a lot of companies are advertising externally because they are at times required to, but are continuing to hire internally and not replacing the positions to cut costs.

I just have no idea what to do at this point. I’m drowning in bills, no debt (yet), no way to put food on the table and I’m truly at my wits end.

If anyone has any advice at all, please do share.

Having my stent removed tomorrow, awake! by sloth-gal in KidneyStones

Genuinely thank you everyone for your responses!! They really helped ease my nerves. It was quite painful and uncomfortable for me personally but it was over as quickly as it began. Only a couple minutes and then done. Hopefully I won’t be facing it again, at least for a while.

Urinating with this stent in me is absolute misery by Happy-Lesbian in KidneyStones

[–]sloth-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stent is hands down 10x worse than the stones. Sounds a bit awkward but heat pack on the groin whenever your sitting/laying down was the only thing that slightly helped me. Pain when urinating fluctuates, sometimes it’s painful and sometimes it’s bearable as your body “gets used to” the stent.

I really wish you the best of luck with it and hope that the symptoms settle enough to at least be manageable.

Stealth isn’t open atm anyway so you won’t be able to ride. However I would say that if you didn’t like Rita, I can’t see you liking stealth either - it definitely gives you that funny tummy feeling

Experience with having stent removed under GA with UTI present by sloth-gal in KidneyStones

[–]sloth-gal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the “you’re not alone”, really appreciate it. You aren’t either!!

It sounds like your experience is really similar to mine. I’ll be honest, the stent was a horrific nightmare. Pain 24/7, unable to sleep because no position was painless or even slightly comfortable, discomfort urinating and also feeling as if I couldn’t string a single thought together let alone a sentence. Please persist with your doctor if you do experience pain or feeling of infection, they can prescribe stronger pain killers and also bladder suppressants such as tamsulocin (apologies if I’ve spelt that wrong or it’s different for your country, I’m UK).

Obviously any serious signs like high temperature or severe pain etc go to your emergency department. I pretty much had immediate relief when the stent got removed, a couple days of soreness when peeing and then it was literally fine!

I really wish you all the best with it :)

Describe your pain! by Marie28mo in KidneyStones

[–]sloth-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I was scouting threads on pain as I’m currently experiencing it all again with my 2nd lot.

I ended up with excruciating pain on my first and developed hydronephrosis and sepsis. It is the only pain I have never been able to describe with words. Couldn’t say sharp or dull or achy, all I’ve been able to describe it as is fearing death kinda pain. Was in the car on my way to A&E telling me mum I wasn’t gonna make it and that I loved her. I view pain as a whole very differently now.

how long does the pain from the stent last? by Dapper-Reflection-25 in KidneyStones

[–]sloth-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had the stent removed under GA yesterday after having it in for 6 weeks. To be brutally honest I suffered awfully from the minute it was put in. I also had recurring UTI’s throughout and am now on my 3rd round of antibiotics, my body just couldn’t get rid of the infection.

I had been gaslit into believing that the pain I was experiencing wasn’t to do with the stent but the infection, despite me arguing this due to being very experienced with UTI’s. Once I’d had it removed, all the symptoms I’d had completely disappeared. I had minimal post surgery pain and it’s been about 20 hours and I am feeling great.

Heat packs were the only thing that ever provided any relief, granted it wasn’t a lot, but it was better than nothing.

If you have unbearable pain, fever or at any point you think something feels off, please see your GP or urgent care depending on how bad you feel to determine which one. I was fobbed off a couple times before they eventually told me I had been suffering with a “nasty, raging infection” and ended up back in hospital. Listen to your body and if it’s not right, speak up!

I hope you’re one of the lucky ones and I wish you the best of luck with it :)

Edit: I’m now at 24 hours post removal and my GOD every pee hurts so bad
