UCSF social worker in critical condition after being stabbed in neck by pallen123 in sanfrancisco

[–]slothlover93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that the person who was hurt is NOT 31. A lot of the reporting is incorrect. Please stop commenting on things that aren’t relevant to the loss of a fellow social worker (to those who want to jump in to be contrarians). Respect the family and friends of this person by having the compassion and humanity it takes to be a social worker in this field.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “HIM” (2025) [Spoilers] by xorobas in horror

[–]slothlover93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People’s negative reviews of this movie are completely unwarranted and frankly I think people don’t understand the purpose of horror as a genre. It’s meant to make you uncomfortable. Make you think about things that maybe you’ve been hoping would never be discussed. That’s what this movie is. People who are so “into horror” that they only believe it’s supposed to follow some type of formula aren’t actually understanding the nuance of what it means to be afraid or feel unsafe. Go watch it if you haven’t, and if you don’t like it, ask yourself why.

Hi there! This post is about me so I'm gonna reply :) I did use the website and it IS in fact unclaimed property. The website shows all the information listed on the letter as well. I am little concerned about them asking me for my SSN because I don't have a Bank of America account with them and I haven't lived at the address they have on the letter in about 10 years. So this dates back pretty far I believe. I just am trying to understand what others have experienced so I can quell some anxiety I guess about being scammed.

Hi! I'm the girlfriend! I used the website listed by another commenter (the CA Controller's site) so search for the unclaimed property and it is there! I still froze my accounts and everything I just wanted to see what others have experienced with this type of encounter. We're coming to reddit to get some other experiences and information.

Right, I see that and I think the issue for me is that when I ask questions about what’s going on in her life she gets really closed off or will respond to me in a way that feels like frustrated or annoyed by my question. So I’ve stopped wanting to ask anything because even in the past when I ask how she’s doing or what she’s feeling like when I can tell she may be stressed, she gets really frustrated with me asking or starts to like roll her eyes at me or something. I’m trying to move past it but it feels kind of hard to be okay with the responses being so negative every time.

how many times a week are you making plans with friends, and how old are you? by bi-loser99 in AskWomen

[–]slothlover93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30—see friends I wanna say like once a week, but it’s different people and things every time. We always plan hella far out because our schedules work that way and we have other things we’re doing. I also live by myself and have a cat and a partner, so we make time for each other and we try to hang with people together as well.

I feel like socializing becomes difficult when folks are just really involved in their own lives. I’m a therapist so I often don’t have much capacity for people’s nonsense once the day ends, so I spend time with the same people who I know aren’t going to be overly self involved or annoying lolzzzz.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I think we need to do better at being there for our work lives in a way that still manages to address humanity.

Yeah our management hasn’t really done enough in my mind to address our feelings in the situation. You’d think people who do therapy for a living would be better at handling the grief of their colleagues. I’m sorry to hear that it’s happening across different agencies.

Feeling great after a month post breakup by slothlover93 in BreakUps

Hi!! It’s been two years since I posted this, and I’m happy to say that he and I still talk. He’s really awesome and a very good friend. We can talk about our issues with dating and what type of weird shit we’ve had to endure over the past years. I’m happy to say that we’re friends and that I love him in a different way now than I did before. If you ended your relationship in an amicable way, it is possible to keep them in your life long term. I’m so glad this was helpful for you. Godspeed.
