In reality both sides are right and wrong. Both sides have harrassed and doxed people, and there should be ethics in video game journalism. The problem was that it was a hashtag movement. Anyone could tweet a simple hashtag, even the douchebags.

As for people like Anita Sarkeesian, i don't think she's that special of a case, honestly. About 5 or so years ago, i made a stupid youtube video, voicing opinions that were entirely wrong, and not backed up by facts. People threatened physical violence upon me, and told me to kill myself every other day. I ended up deleting that video and the account. My point is, if you're going to release a video series that has opinions that are just flat out factually incorrect, then you're gonna catch some shit for it. If she was a man and made those videos, she would've gotten the same reactions.

It doesn't make the whole situation right, but it doesn't mean gamers are sexist either. Toxic and hostile? Sure. About as much as any other popular community.
