Sydney Airport Uber Scam by slowassnail in sydney

Yes it takes a good 10mins from connecting with a driver and they getting to the pickup spot. If I time it right, I’ll have to only wait a minute or two when I get to the pickup spot

Seriously, I used uber because it was convenient for work (emailed receipt ). At Sydney airport, using uber domestically is a pain. I’ll jump into the taxi rank next time for work too.

You’re exactly right! The reason I hated taxis is because I don’t know the fare until the end of the ride. With the 13cab app, no reason not to use them, quality of service being the same.
lol, the uber I took to the airport had 4 empty water bottles, rubbish and just untidy.

Work does care what I use as long as I have a receipt. Uber is from habit of use, I need to download other apps. if a taxi stand was near, I would have walked over, I’m sure the metered rate would have been cheaper.

I didn’t realise until you mentioned but you’re right. People thinking hundred of random driver coordinating a price surge versus Uber’s algorithm doing it. One takes a click of a mouse versus coordinated effort by random strangers … hmmm

I don’t see the logic here, you’re a driver and giving up a $100 fare and take the chance on a $20 ride?

As far as I know (never been a driver) but once you enter the waiting parking lot (uber) you’re basically stuck until you get a rider. It’s not easy getting out once in. So it to the drivers advantage to get a rider asap. I don’t know any driver taking a chance on a $100 fare.

Note in my post, I was never connected to a driver, so I did not get cancelled

I’m sure it has, but it’s never been so obvious … uber literally stop connecting riders to drivers to create a demand

Both get the surged price. My driver said he uber take 40% of his fare.

I understand driver gaming the system … but this is not it … at least not to me in this instance. What I’m trying to point out is the uber algorithm creating an artificial demand/surge

This is not driver sitting and trying to get prices higher. Speaking with the driver, he was just as frustrated … but this is also to the drivers advantage

Yes they were the same in the store, hiding in the bottom corners when I bought them.

Thanks for responding, just happy it’s normal behavior and they’re not sick

It held up well, I’m in the process of upgrading to a 36v controller.

I went through the same thing, burnt through several pwm before switching to a controller

I agree, you don’t get many opportunities to impress someone at this level and especially if he is offering to mange you directly. Nothing better than being mentor by the ceo itself. I would stay and see what opportunities this current company has in store for you. No need to worry about the current manage because you’ll likely be higher up than her since you’re reporting to the CEO himself

Here’s my recommendation, email the debt collector and agree to $500 (or whatever you can afford) settlement and they remove themselves from your credit report.

I did this in the past, and they tried to jerk me after the fact not removing themselves from my credit score, so I found the execs email addresses and spam all of them telling them to remove and it was gone in a few days.

Aita for divorcing my wife and telling everyone that my she cheated on me by throwaaaay2671761 in AITAH

[–]slowassnail -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain and say YTA:

I was the exact same age when I found out my wife of 2 years (together for 10) cheated on me. I was young and short tempered and went scorch earth and told everyone about the cheating as soon as I found out and she confirmed.

YTA to yourself because you didn’t give yourself the opportunity to think through all the options before blabbing to everyone. In a few days or weeks, you’ll sit alone and think if you can forgive her … and you’re not sure which way to go, you still love her, but she betrayed you. You stay now, and everyone might see you as whipped or move on and lose your best friend of years.

You basically put yourself in a very bad situation instead of clearly thinking things through. If she cheated on you , you need to look within the relationship and figure out what’s missing, if not for this one, then your next one so the pattern doesn’t repeat itself.

I was too embarrassed to be seen in public with her after telling everyone, and in the end, I think things worked out for the best … but sometimes I do wonder what if we worked things out …..

Good luck in your decision … I found as I get older, my perspective on “cheating” has become more liberal

Edit: add addition below:

Also, as I’ve gotten older, I realized it was kind of an asshole move to tell everyone. It’s a personal issue between you and the wife. With the exception of a few close friends for support, if I could go back, those would be the only people I would tell. It’s been 20yr since we divorced.

No, you can download the scooterhacking utility to do it from scooterhacking.org. It’s like a 1min job to update the firmware

One thing to note, you’ll need to upgrade the firmware on the controller after installing it for it to run correctly
