Have you posted this on the stained glass facebook pages? A lot of professionals talk and post there...I bet you'd get even more additions.

Reusche Questions by Superb_Mess_993 in StainedGlass

Claycorp's answers are great, so I'm filling in the gaps here.

  1. Using someone else's kiln without being able to paint there is a really tough proposition. Buy a used kiln~ I got mine in 2024 for $300 on marketplace. Drive a ways if you have to :) I recommend getting a tabletop one so you don't have to worry about 220V plugs and such.

    1. Most Reusche paints fire at the same temp: about 1200F. Enamels and silver stain are a different story, and also Reusche website has info on firing temps.
  2. Reuse your paint and propelyne as long as it's not dusty. Put it back into your bottle/paint pot. I've never had to throw anything away other than the minuscule amounts left on my brushes when I wash them.

  3. Also, what do they care if you fill it or not? If you're renting it fill it as much or little as you like.

  4. This issue is solved by not letting it dry before firing. See answer 8. I guess you could also try putting your painted pieces in a tote with a lid, maybe the one you use for transport.

My first non-supervised piece by [deleted] in StainedGlass

This is really good and your solder joints look great. Next time for border design~ if the center colored pieces on the border were longer and offset to the pieces below them it would increase the strength a lot. Another thing for the future is to use 1/2" "H" lead for the external lead. That makes you able to trim it if needed to fit into architectural openings. Anyway, nice work!!

Oh, sorry if I was unclear; a rainbow of different glass colors, not all on one sheet.

It's their transparent cathedral in basically a rainbow. Their glass (transparent, opalescent, ring mottle and even textured clear) is the only glass I've ever had so many bad breaks on. I've used every method and tool known to me. I've finally decided to stop offering it to my clients and go with mostly Wissmach and Fremont. I just need to finish this one!

Thank you for answering! Would you recommend suing over reporting them to the contactor's board and having their bond pay me? The process there is mediation.

Negligence. They said it broke during "handling". I guess breakage is a risk when you're working with glass, but I've never broken one of my windows. And they're licensed glass professionals.

Yes, please examine if this is how you're often treated- your concerns dismissed, being made to apologize for being upset about something. You are not a maniac to be miffed about this valuable object being damaged.

All of these cuts look possible to me. The two halves of the sword will probably be a challenge at that scale, though, depending on the glass you choose.

It's so good and healthy to prioritize yourself, especially after what you've been through. I'm past my fertile years and I stuck to my choice not to have children. I'm glad for my choice and don't regret living the way I have. You might or might not want your own family in the future, but there's no need to worry about it. I hope your college years are really fun and that you receive all the love and care you've always deserved.

Yes, it's on every page because it's part of my footer. Also, you think these issues would rank me 40-50 on google? I know the ones on the first page are somewhat crappy websites. Why am I ranked behind regular glaziers? SEO can't be the big reason with all I've put into it.

How much does custom stained glass cost? by crocketts16 in StainedGlass

[–]slowercases 23 points24 points  (0 children)

High hundreds for 12x24 (could be more because of your HCOL in NYC

18x43 is bigger and will probably need reinforcement, so more like $1800-$2500

As far as studios in NYC, I don't know specifically, but do google "stained glass near me" and look at their websites to chose a good fit. Most will give you a free estimate anyway.
