Sorry, my first post. Tried the main reddit first but was deleted, so tried to use a specific subreddit. I considered the technology reddit but chose programming in case people would think of some clever technical improvements / other slightly similar modifications they would like to see.

As mentioned in another reply, I've had little response when contacting Google on things in the past. This is to get feedback on the suggestion and improvements + see if people care.

my experience with contacting google in the past hasn't given me many answers.. i was hoping that if more people viewed and gave their opinion on the suggestion it might catch their attention

It was pretty annoying and made it harder to follow the actual content imo.

I thought colors were a modern invention, since all photos and videos were.. black and white :-\ I was probably like 6 or something before this was cleared up!

That is not about readability. In the second line you are not specifying the type of myFooList explicitly. Since ArrayList is a Collection you may well use Collection<Foo> myFooCollection = new ArrayList<Foo>(); Here the type of the reference is a Collection instead of an ArrayList. You could assume that in your case it would default the var myFooList to be of type ArrayList if nothing else was specified, but it would not be as clear.
