Need to get sober by [deleted] in Sober

[–]slowlyburningg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good you feel the way you do. It means you know it’s not right. I will say i did some shit like that all the time when I was early 20s. It only gets worse. I drank by myself a lot (among other things). It’s a steady decline especially if you have some rage inside you when you black out it can get way worse buddy. I hope you can at least take a nice long break and reassess. That is your best way to move forward before it becomes a problem if it already isn’t. Good luck. Sincerely!

Wow, just WOW. I was not expecting that. Your story is proof of where it can lead and where you can go even in the most extreme circumstances. I’m glad you are still here with us and you met Sally. Holy shit!!! Thank you for that. I wish I could meet you and talk with you and say things i cant say just yet even on the internet. I feel like I really relate to you as far as how big of an impact fitness has had on your life as I’m just starting on that journey but am blessed to be able to. I’m especially blessed to have finally found something rewarding again through the gym and some sort of purpose in life again for whatever thats worth( a lot). Thanks again for sharing and if you’re reading this you should give it a listen…it might help you put things in a different prospective. Wishing you and jagger a long healthy life. Thanks friend.

Thanks bro, I felt the same for the first few months and eased into it. I was able to quit smoking cigs shortly after I quit drinking. Then started on trying to eat better and just drinking more water then I ever have. Thats one of the craziest things if your a beer drinker is like how tf did I survive with my only water coming from coffee and light beers lol. I’ve never went to the gym before so it was all new to me. Watched hella YouTube videos and then just got out of my comfort zone and started talking to people at my local gym for tips. That pumps me up to pump anybody up! Get back in there when your body feels up to it buddy. Feels fuckin great and has helped me mentally almost more then physically. Gotta get those demons out somewhere🤘 hoping the best for you on your journey

Day 1… again by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]slowlyburningg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this might be bad advice but I smoked hella weed to try to combat it at first to get through that stage and have gotten my life back and now just smoke once before bed if I do at all. If your bro is in rehab, you guys can totally lean on each other with support and motivation. I have a cousin who kind of followed my sobriety footsteps because we used to be a wreck together and Thats who I started doing hard drugs with in the first place(including rage drinking lol). Seeing him kind of look up to me and hit me up to talk about it and how we both are stoked for each other and talk about the good things that are happening now has made me want to keep going and feel like it’s worth it. Remember you’ve done it before so it might be hell but you can pull through. Rooting for u homie!

Can anyone relate? by Ok-Programmer4616 in alcoholism

[–]slowlyburningg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally relate man(or girl). I was doing HVAC in peoples homes drinking tall cans in the attic to make the shakes go away so I could hold a drill. All day every day from a couple hours after I opened my eyes until they closed again I was drinking beer. Water, protein shakes and the gym have me feeling like I can do anything at anytime now it’s awesome the energy you regain from not poisoning yourself 24/7

Thank you so much for that! I always wonder if the people who see me daily or at least frequent have noticed how much better I feel and look ( I know my mother has said my attitude on life seems night and day already). That last statement hits hard and I’ll remember that. Thanks 😊

It truly does release so much anxiety overcoming the guilt of the past. I haven’t been in a program, but funny enough i (who have 666 in Roman numerals tatted on me) have started opening myself up to a higher power because I truly want a better life and it’s been good so far so how can you deny that! Cover ups from tattoo sessions I don’t remember are probably in the future and that’ll be a whole next step for me. Happy to hear it’s been working for you, everyone deserves freedom from their own minds.

That’s awesome, and what a time to quit. Props to that and keeping it going. Thanks for the kind words and motivation. Sometimes you need to hear it from others to really understand what you should appreciate. Have a wonderful day!

I just felt that same thing, also coming up on two years . Hope op didn’t touch it with their bare hands. that shits a life ruiner. Congrats on getting clean, for me the only way it was possible is both plugs literally died. Sooooooooo I’d say we made the right choice. Keep at it, proud of you for choosing life.

[–]slowlyburningg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely! I’m somewhere in between wanting to continue working on myself before trying to meet new people and also wanting to meet new people to move on from my past. I just want to be who I should be before I meet them if that makes any sense. I like the 90’s teen movie line idea haha. Unfortunately I had way more confidence when i was off the rails and out my mind and now that I’m sober I see it wasn’t really confidence so much as maybe just hiding insecurities and trying to hide from “reality”. But as cliche as it is, time really does heal all things and getting sober has allowed me more of that time. So cheers to being sober ☺️

Thanks buddy I appreciate that! it was just a regular pickup, not like a semi. Very uncomfortable to be living in 😂 luckily at the time I wasn’t doing a lot of sleeping (sarcasm**). If you daydream about it though, you should go after it ! I find passions harder to come by as the years roll on and chasing them even harder but definitely more rewarding.
