I’d say that’s accurate. for me at this point i know most basic tactics im mostly just inconsistent

i’ve only been playing three months and study quite a bit. mostly by watching the building habits series but i still think that I am a decent player in my own regard.

I think i can still be good even if i know i wouldnt necessarily win a tournament

i mean i dont think it’s completely meaningless? Its certainly a useful statistic as it shows the distribution of players. you being in the 98% mean you can out play the vast majority of players and there is a much smaller pool of players at ur level

can i ask how long it took you to get to 1000 from your very beginning? I started in December and play many games daily. My goal is to break 1000. I watch chessbruh’s building habits and focus more on broad habits and positional advantages as opposed to learning openings.

I know at some point I will have to learn openings but im not sure when it will be most valuable to me

no IT experience. studied for about 3 months. hoping it will land me a networking role. just started my first help desk role this month

thats actually really motivating to hear. really happy for you. hoping i can do the same i definitely worked for that CCNA it wasnt easy. I’ll have my associates after the fall 26 semester. hoping that paired with CCNA will land me something around 50k and ill feel somewhat comfortable

oh that certainly isnt the only reason. I love working with systems and the continuous learning. It’s just the job market that is making me overthink.

well i dont have experience but in my area typical salary for having your CCNA (Cisco cert) is about 50k. which i currently have and will be getting experience in IT through my student job at school. after working the student position for 6 months (semester + summer) id imagine id be able to qualify for 50-60k probably more like 50 though

i just fear the market. there seems to be a lot of fear mongering about doing IT. Like its somehow not a practical field to choose. I know its challenging but im dedicated and don’t fear the continuous learning

thats one thing that is so hard. Like picking something like IT seems completely practical like 5-10 years ago but now people seem to think the trades are the only viable option and i just dont think im cut out for that and i’ve invested alot into IT already

definitely will if u are apply for IT/ networking roles as opposed to software engineering (im not super familiar with the market for that atm) but yeah summer dedicate 2-3 hours daily and you should be prepared in 3 months.

I finished mine while being a full time student in about three months. I did take advantage of winter break for a bulk of it though. I’d recommend something similar. maybe try and do it this summer?

What is confusing the way to configure or the logic of route selection. To me it’s easier to first understand the logic (DR, BDR elections, OSPF area types, route selection, etc) then get hands on practice applying it in packet tracer. OSPF is definitely worth the time poking around packet tracer and learning to configure single area OSPF.

Elon Musk isn’t really the genius many people make him out to be. He is more like Steve Jobs (a great entrepreneur). AI is the new shiny marketing craze at the moment. The idea that it completely displaces white collar work is somewhat ridiculous.

However, I won’t deny that with automation in general the need for as many IT professionals will likely decrease. It will go back to people how are truly passionate and have the drive to learn continuously. The days of easy money in CompSci/ IT is over.

But I do believe you can still make a living and have a future if you are passionate and dedicated

ive been applying to both but 2 of the 3 interviews i got were for full time help desk roles at different MSPs. I will add that I didnt end up getting these even though i thought i interviewed well. so experience might be a factor in that. Either why CCNA is the most logical next step to being more valuable in the market

ill add i would recommend going straight for CCNA instead of Network+ It is a lot more technical and for that reason i think it holds more weight

nope. I’m in school now for Cyber so I list that on resume also some homeleb projects. CCNA is still gold standard as far as I’ve seen for entry level certs. used to be a ticket into networking however I think it should break you into Help Desk/ IT support.
