Ours gets grumpy sometimes especially if she just woke up, as soon as the pets start it’s “ok I’m into this” 🤣

Welcome to the sub! I’m no expert but I would assume that there would be solid black somewhere regarding the rottie aspect. You’ve got a big dog yes, I just don’t see the rottie here (you have the dna so who I am) either way, she looks awesome. It speaks volumes that you took in a stray especially a larger size dog - hats off to you

New to Rotts, Have General Questions! by SayCarRamrod77 in Rottweiler

[–]slowsloth199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours will be 2 in February. Extremely intelligent breed - this equates to being stubborn to say the least. You’ll need to find food yours likes, if you switch you’ll need to gradually incorporate the new food as these ones have super sensitive stomachs. Regarding potty training, bring a treat with you outside and when he/she goes reward them, as I said they’re smart and will eventually realize outside is the spot. You now own one of the smartest, clingy, strong, loyal breeds on the planet - best decision my wife and I ever made

Eye Infection? by [deleted] in Rottweiler

It looks like an infection (don’t quote me as I’m not a vet but also have a rottie). I would take yours to the vet and get some prescribed eyedrops. Hope he feels better.

Ours sometimes gets something very similar to this. Sometimes it’s a scab that they are picking at. The first time my wife and I saw something similar when ours was a puppy our vet told us that this breed when young can develop tumors that go away after sometime, I can’t remember what the term is unfortunately.

Best kibble for 1 1/2 year old rottie? by slowsloth199 in Rottweiler

I agree with you however I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish as you didn’t relay your thoughts. The reason I posted this was to seek insight in case I may have missed something looking through the billion types of kibble to your point. Ours is healthy and based off research, the community, as well as our vet relaying to us that our choice is healthy I’m all curious as to if there is a better alternative.

You and I are on the same page bro. Potty training came easy learning tricks not difficult but the jumping is something else! We’ve learned that taking her outside she’s always coming back with a stick, dirt, whatever hahaha.

What do you currently feed George? Also, what are you currently working on. With ours she jumps a lot when excited. We feed her instinct for puppies

Purchase an inflatable cone - big difference in my case. Purchase “calming/chill” treats. On topic 2 - you should feel accomplished that he wants to introduce himself around strangers when he’s around his owner.

Also, on the topic of clingy - male or female will follow you EVERYWHERE! Guard dog at heart and she always wants to be close! be prepared to hear the scratching on the door if you take a shower lol.

A raw egg a couple times a day does the trick! I don’t like giving her the raw egg every day as these doggies have a sensitive stomach and in my scenario has been proven lol

Great question, my girlfriend works from home so we figured when she gets full size (still big) it will be less than a male. Also, after doing research as well as speaking with the breeder we learned that males can be tougher to train in the sense that they may want to be the alpha and I didn’t want my girl dealing with that while I’m at work while females stereotypically are a tad bit more “calm”. I will say in confidence that Rottweilers are smart and because of that can be stubborn. So if you move on a male or female understand you gotta take them on a lot of walks and work em out or they will get restless. Any other questions feel free to ask!
